"We believe programs should be enjoyable, fun, safe, fulfilling, and rewarding. Recreational opportunities should emphasize participation for enjoyment, self understanding, self discipline, team work, and sportsmanship" It is hard to believe this is the center of the Athletics program for our Parks department. After multiple attempts to understand which of the rules umpires follow and enforce, it has left our team feeling completely defeated interacting in the community. Umpires and Parks and Rec staff have put it on teams to enforce following rules and setting standards while requests to the main office staff have fallen on deaf ears. If you are not a highly competitive team, be prepared to be unwelcomed in the league for wanting to play and expecting rules to be followed. If safety is a concern, this also is not for you as bats can be thrown out of the field and into the stands with no accountability to the rules.
