I hired Knockout Renovation to do a major reno on my Manhattan condo. I worked with a designer, who then became my project manager, handling all the details of the complicated project. This approach is much superior to the more traditional process that friends of mine have used, where the client selects an independent designer, and then has to hire and coordinate an army of individual contractors to perform the work. Knockout Reno took care of all of this, and overall did an excellent job. I highly recommend them.

This company was hired by our neighbors (our homes are attached) and they damaged our house due to their negligence. They hired an engineer who was not an engineer and put their workers in danger. Our children, including our daughter with autism, had their bedrooms damaged. We have been in litigation for years. Knockout will not take responsibility for the mess they made nor will the people who hired them Atkins and Dickerson of East 7th St in Brooklyn.

Knockout took on our ambitious full home remodel and helped us realize our dream home! We moved into an outdated 3 floor row home, which required a bunch of work and by the end of the project they had remodeled our kitchen beautifully, added a half bath, redone two full bathrooms, refinished our floor, removed bulky built-ins, put in a nice banister for our main stairs and more! We are thrilled with the design and the space is super sleek and new-looking!!

We live in a coop building in Turtle Bay and recently renovated our kitchen using Knockout. Overall the design process went very well, the quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and we're very happy with the results. Like all renovation projects, once we started we found a few things we needed to fix or adjust. I was worried but the team did a great job handling these curveballs. One thing you should know: the paperwork took way longer than I expected so we started work later than I hoped. Once we started though, work progressed smoothly. We ended the project on time and actually under budget.

Hi and thanks! Yes! We take care of all permits and approvals for you as well as shopping with you, product orders, deliveries and all of the work itself.
A complete gut renovation of a bathroom can run between $35,000 in a newer building to $45,000 or more in an old building where there will likely be more plumbing and electrical upgrades needed. Add for a larger bathroom or if plumbing fixtures are being relocated.. If you want to take out the bathtub and replace it with a shower in the process of renovating the bathroom it will add around $4,500 to bulld a custom tiled pan that will utilize every inch of space. Other factors include the products you choose, whether you want to add custom glass shower doors, lighting, storage, venting or other features.
Hi Pemith, I suggest first thinking about what you like and don't like about the existing space as well as what you need more or less of. Gather some photos of your ideal kitchen in terms of colors and layout, then hire a good design, build firm, like us, to create a customized plan that addresses your preferences and needs. The next step is products selection and ordering (we do that as well). In the interim, your chosen firm will prepare their team and any permits. Only once the products are delivered should the renovation begin, that way, you don't get stuck without a kitchen while waiting for products to arrive.
If the renovation is in a Co-op or Condominium, these buildings typically require 2 million dollars in liability insurance and some 5 or 10 million dollars. They also require Workers compensation insurance. Some buildings require a variety of other insurances. The alteration agreement provided by the buildings management company will usually list the requirements.
Thanks for the question. It depends on a few things. What rooms are being renovated and to what extent (walls, floors, ceilings, closets, windows, doors, lighting, plumbing, etc.)? Is it being done in stages? If you intend to stay during, what rooms will still be habitable? You'll likely want a bedroom, bathroom, other? This is definitely a conversaton to have beforehand with your family and remodeling firm so that appropriate accomodations can be made. Whether you intend to be there or not, its important to make sure your remodeler puts up sufficient protective barriers and covers vents to limit dust travel. They should also have HEPA filters on to help reduce airborne dust. If the work will be limited to a kitchen or bathroom, as long as you're prepared to live without that room and allow for noise, dust, workers and some inconvenience, you should be able to stay.
Thanks for your question Carolin. The first steps are: 1. Check with your building's management company to see if it's allowed. 2. Hire a licensed remodeling firm, architect or engineer to determine the feasibility and best access point between the units. 3. Before diving in, get pricing and as much information as possible to avoid surprises.
The short answer is yes, you can buy your own kitchen appliances but the majority of products get ordered by us since we buy alot so when there's a product issue, our suppliers will usually get it resolved quickly which is essential to a project schedule. We sell many brands.
You could, though we work with several licensed NYC architects so we can take care of that aspect of your renovation as well.
As part of your renovation, we'll shop with you at our showroom and others, then get everything delivered to your home or apartment.
We have alot of experience with ADA and universal design renovations.
