I had a bad experience with VSO named James Hood. He was EXTREMELY disrespectful. He questioned my combat experience and lied about his own stating, and I quote, "You know I'm a retiree right?" If you were a retiree, you would know the classifications of each medal and why they were awarded. Don't go to GAWVNH to file you claim. Go to the DAV or the American Legion so you don't have to deal with disrespectful individuals like James Hood.

As a medical worker I can confidently state that a good amount of the nursing staff are grossly incompetent, more than once we have taken people from this facility near death due to the nurses neglect or laziness. With the exception of one floor this facility is the single worst nursing home I have ever walked in to. If you value your loved ones please please please look somewhere else, if you aren't wealthy your loved one will more than likely be mistreated. The 2nd and 4th floors have the worst medical staff you will find, rude, lazy and a total lack of knowledge on how to care for a patient. If you ask an emergency room employee anywhere in the CSRA they will tell you to avoid this place.

Tony, please check this link for eligibility criteria: https://www.augusta.edu/gawarveterans/eligibility.php
As long as your a Veteran.
Can patients be allow to go out with family during the day?
Not sure about that. Hello Charlene how have you been doing?
There are veteran service officers located in the GA Dept. of Veteran Services. You need to call them to see what guidance they are providing since entry to the facility is limited. (The GA War Veterans Nursing Home shares the same building.)
No Ma'am.The Veterans Service Office on the first floor of Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home can assist in providing the information about how to obtain a copy of a Veteran's DD-214. Another method of obtaining a DD214: https://www.va.gov/records/get-military-service-records/
Yes . Come on Tuesday or after because of Vets day the Veteren services office may be closed but after that any week day they are open. Closed on weekends
Take them to security desk they will call the right person
They have veteran service officers that may be able to assist.
Ga war is not technically part of the VA. It actually falls under Augusta University. The residents do need to be a resident of Georgia who have served in the military during an active time of war. You can always call the admissions office for details on requirements.
The daily charge is less than $24.00. Paid monthly, that comes to a little over $700/month.
My Dad is there & has dementia. You have to serve in the military. There is usually a waiting list. But, with my Dad, the paperwork took a month or 2 & they had a room available. I just hate that parking is taken over by all the employees when you have a function to attend or patient review..
Call the business phone on Monday and ask for activities
Why would you want him out of there? This is the best veterans nursing home in the southeast. Maybe he needs to be on a different floor. I've seen the vets thrive with certain people people personalities and even gender sometimes.
Can a non war vet get in?
