My mother spent just two months at this nursing home, and while at “The Place Nursing home” she became very sick very fast. When I started asking questions on her stats and care, I was given a “I don’t know” answers and blank looks. She developed pneumonia while at The Place, but was never sent to the hospital. That was me that noticed something wrong and drove her to the emergency room. Three weeks later when she was discharged from the hospital back to The Place, they refused to accept her. This caused her to wait in the ambulance for over and hour in the nursing homes parking lot and additional three hours on a hard hospital Gurnee, at University Hospital while the nursing staff argued with each other over how to admit her since she had been discharged and there was no place for her to go. She was eventually sent to another nursing home that would immediately accept her and that was an hour and 20 minutes away. She came to that nursing home with serious bedsores that took almost half a year to heal up. I do not believe The Place Nursing Home has corrected whatever management or cultural issues they must have had, that allowed this to happen, or allowed “this business” to treat her so badly.

I was here for 2 months for physical therapy. I was the youngest resident here(35). I came in on a stretcher from the hospital and left walking out the front door. I was walking again in less than 30 days. From the administration to the nurses to the housekeeping, you all treated me like a brother or son. For that reason,I will always be grateful 🙏 🙏

My 72 yr old brother was removed from The Place at Deans Bridge Road in Augusta after receiving a sepsis infection in April 2018 from a stage 4 pressure sore. He was sent to Augusta University Medical Center and sent to ICU. I elected to bring him home with me after his discharge. I am deeply offended because this nursing home administration knew the injury that landed him in the nursing home was severe and they could not take care of him properly. But they kept him in their system anyway, uncaring for him as the pressure sore increased from the first stage to the 4th stage. Stage 4 means he had a wound that went all the way to his spinal cord (See the Photo of his back and foot). These were taken when I brought him home from the hospital in May 2018. He is still on the mend as of January 2020 and is currently using a Medella Invia Wound Vacuum for negative pressure wound therapy, and a Invacare Alternating Pressure Mattress/ Medical Air Mattress with Inflatable Pad & Electric Pump System for Ulcer Bedsore Prevention and Pressure Sore to promote wound healing. Unfortunately, he still has many months to recover from the non-care given at The Place at Deans Bridge Road in Augusta, GA.
