I really enjoyed my visit at the Pines, facility was clean, staff was very helpful and my loved one said meals are great. Keep up the great work!!

First off, this community could be one of the best in the Charlotte area. The thing that prevents this is the management - particularly the administrator - who doesn’t leave her office because of all her “allergies”. The regional management team only shows up occasionally, then lies to the employees promising raises, bonuses and other perks that the administrator will not permit because it negatively impacts her budget. Management, both local and regional, create a very demoralizing environment that impedes the quality of care that the residents receive. One of the most disturbing things I personally witnessed was the segregation of Medicaid residents to a hallway separate from the private pay residents. This was a directive of the corporate CEO Chris Belford because he said private pay residents shouldn’t have to live with Medicaid residents. This is complete segregation in modern day terms. Workers have been attacked by residents with absolutely no action from the administrator or the regional/corporate team. Calls to Human Resources go unanswered and messages never returned. The daily 3-4 hour “pow-wows” between the administrator and her minions result in the gross neglect of residents because the activities director is holed up in an office gossiping about the staff. Several outside services such as pet therapy that had been with the facility for years were lost because of the activity director’s nasty attitude towards staff and residents. The administrator turns a blind eye to all of her “pets”. Beware that room rates are increasing and budgets are being slashed to increase the profit margin. When the food service budget is decreased and the residents were already eating the lowest quality food available, you better bring your family some groceries. Many families must supplement their loved ones’ food because much of the food is inedible. Speaking of food, let’s talk about the roaches and the rats. Staff have found roaches on the plates that were to be served to memory care residents and nothing was done about it. It was a big joke to many workers. Residents have to buy rat traps with their own funds to catch rats in their rooms. You can only do so much to make a change, and that all begins with the administrator. The last straw for me is when the new director of nursing made a derogatory comment about my husband. She is a bigot. For a company that claims to foster an inclusive environment, it’s the most derogatory thing that has ever been said to me. The sad part is that it is condoned by management. Be very wary of this place both as a potential employer as well as a safe place to entrust the care of your loved one.

THE WORST ADMINISTRATION I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES! DO NOT WORK HERE! It is toxic and drama filled. Even if another employee tries to put their hands on you. They will not do anything about it! They will let them keep working there with no punishment. THEY ARE ALL LIARS. They tell you one thing then stab you in the back with something different! Do not go here.
