That's a great question Maddie! First, I want to say I'm a store leader with Petco, but not this particular Petco. However, we in the Raleigh/Durham area are very close in terms of proximity and policy execution. Secondly, to answer your question, we have a schedule for all of our companion animal friends. After six months in our store, if that furry or scaly friend is still at it's home store, that pet is transferred to another store that perhaps has a better move through of that kind of animal. Our very long term residents, (8 months or more) are typically adopted out to a prospective pet parent. I will finally say from experience, a lot of the time pets end up with leaders or store partners and I can recall only just a few instances where we had to adopt out a furry/scaly companion animal.
