I once got a ticket for parking on the neighborhood street outside my fiance's home while visiting during the holidays despite their being no signs indicating this was not permitted (which I thought was typically required for ticketing). When I told the court clerk this, she was extremely rude/hostile and actually said they couldn't put up signs to notify people of obscure seasonal neighborhood parking rules because then it would, and I kid you not, "be a city of signs." I wanted to laugh at the ridiculousness or debatable legality of this, but then realized she was serious.
