I was referred to come here, and it's a decent place. Staff was really nice, knowledge, and gentle, but I was there first to fix a filling that came out and is very sensitive to hot, cold, or even air. They did X-rays, a cleaning, but didn't address the primary reason I was there, and scheduled that nearly a month out. Somewhat of a silly thing to mention, I didn't really like the chairs when reclined; the armrests aren't intended for when reclined, so instead of being relaxed while being worked on, I wasn't sure what to do with my arms, so that could be improved on. Update: they did end up calling me much sooner for an open appointment and did a good job repairing. I've updated to 4 stars. They are very pleasant, but there is room for improvement.

This was my first visit and I am beyond pleased with the service provided. They were so caring and kind and took into consideration my fear of the dentist. Very thorough and great bed side manner

A very nice and modern dental office! The staff is very warm and welcoming, and are also very caring of their patients’ comfort during cleaning and other dental procedures. This dental office is my new regular! Highly recommend.

While flossing isn’t as mainstream as brushing, it plays a critical role in keeping your smile healthy and strong. At Green Meadow Dental, we strongly encourage flossing for the benefit of both your oral health and body health.
Your teeth may feel fine, but it’s still important to see the dentist regularly because problems can exist without you knowing. Your smile’s appearance is important, and your dentist can help keep your smile healthy and looking beautiful.
It is recommended that your child have their first check-up at the age of one year. We do not charge children under the age of 12 for dental work or check-ups, so it is completely free!
We don't do anything that can stress you out in the last trimester, and lying back can be uncomfortable, so it's best not to do anything in the last three months. However, if something urgent needs to be done and you are in your third trimester, please notify us as soon as possible.
Yes, indeed, it is. That is, unless you want false teeth at the age of 60.
It is recommended that your teeth should be cleaned at the dentist twice per year.
People with good healthy teeth and little risk or history of cavities or gum disease are usually able to see their dentist either once or twice a year. People with a high risk of dental disease might need to visit every three or four months, or more depending on past history, the state of their teeth and their dental hygiene routine.
An oral surgeon combines the best qualities of a dentist and surgeon in one. The specialist has sufficient training in both medical and dental schools. He also has thorough knowledge about teeth, and oral muscles and bones. He will guide you throughout the entire treatment process. The oral surgeon will likewise work together with your dentist to ensure your proper healing and recovery.
Our clinic is located at 3579B Berlin Turnpike Newington, CT 06111
When performing a simple extraction, the surgeon or dentist will first administer a local anaesthetic. It will numb the affected area, but the patient will remain conscious. Using an elevator, the dentist will lift the tooth, and then pull the tooth out using forceps. The process is slow and deliberate to avoid breaking the tooth during the procedure. This type of tooth extraction is done for patients who have erupted teeth.
An oral surgery is often performed on young patients. This is because the roots of the teeth have yet to set in the jaw. Extraction is more difficult to perform once the teeth are already anchored. Recovery time for older patients will also be longer.
For patients with mild tooth damage or erupted teeth, a simple tooth extraction is enough of a solution. Though most people assume surgeries to be long-drawn or complex, this process is as simple as the name implies. By numbing the affected area with a local anesthetic, the surgeon can carefully remove the tooth in such a way that it does not become damaged throughout the course of the extraction. With the use of tools made specifically for extracting teeth, this slow procedure garners the least worry on the patient’s part.
Tooth extraction may be necessary under several conditions. These include: -Serious decay that has brought irreparable damage to your tooth, and a successful tooth restoration procedure is impossible to achieve. -Crowding in your mouth caused by an excessive number of teeth; extraction may be necessary so the remaining teeth will fit in your mouth properly. -Severe infection that has damaged a big part of the tooth, as well as the supporting bone structure. An experienced dentist will use unique skills and great care when performing a tooth extraction procedure on you. This way, you will experience minimal discomfort and pain throughout the process. You will also get comprehensive post-treatment care instructions from your dentist. This way, you can take care of your oral health properly as you heal.
Sure. Even people who have had conventional metal braces orthodontics when young, can use Invisalign to straighten their teeth even better.
-Not removable so does not depend on patient compliance, especially in children -Better for complex bite problems, jaw surgery, impacted or congenitally missing permanent teeth in children
Veneers and cosmetic bonding can be used to make a variety of changes to your smile. Invisalign allows you to straighten your teeth without braces. Teeth whitening gets rid of the stains that have set in below the enamel. There are many cosmetic services to choose from, and we can customize your treatment plan according to your needs.
You can think about getting dental implants if you’ve either lost at least one tooth or are planning to have teeth extracted. Some patients are not currently viable candidates for implants, but they might ultimately be able to undergo the surgery after certain steps are taken.
There’s more than one possible cause of tooth pain. If your discomfort doesn’t go away after a couple of days becomes excessively painful, you should treat it as an emergency. Make an emergency appointment with us immediately so that we can narrow down the source of the problem. For example, if there’s an infection, we may have to perform a root canal before the tooth is completely compromised.
If the tooth got dirty, hold it by the top crown (not by the root) and carefully rinse it off. Don’t scrub or remove any tissue fragments attached. If possible, gently insert the tooth back into its socket and hold it there. Otherwise, put the tooth in a cup of dairy milk and call your dentist immediately. Your dentist will instruct you to quickly bring the detached tooth with you to his office.
X-rays are very useful diagnostic tools — X-rays can reveal: -the positions of your teeth -teeth that haven’t emerge above gum-line (impacted) -presence of dental decay, and its extent -any damage to bones -a tooth abscess -a fractured jaw -malocclusion, or misalignment of teeth -any abnormalities of teeth or jaw bone
Sure. Even people who have had conventional metal braces orthodontics when young, can use Invisalign to straighten their teeth even better.
Modern orthodontics treats only one aspect of your teeth. There are several other ways to brighten your smile. This includes: Teeth whitening to make them bright and shiny, Cosmetic bonding to repair broken or chipped teeth and fill gaps between teeth, Porcelain veneers to repair more extensively damaged teeth, Crowns or caps to make a decayed tooth look like new, Dental implants to replace missing teeth permanently. Whatever is bothering you about your teeth, we may have a solution beyond your expectations. Contact us today and consult our experts to find the best solution for our needs.
Unlike the metal braces, Invisalign adjusts to your lifestyle. You can remove it for brushing, flossing, succumbing to the temptation of eating hard, sticky, sweet or acid foods and drinks. Or partying, important meetings and formal photo shoots, and it still works just fine, so long you wear it at least 22 hours a day.
There is a new technique called Accelerated Invisalign, which can cut the treatment time by half. But it does not work for everybody. It does not cost extra and you can switch to it even in the middle of your Invisalign treatment.
To prevent tooth sensitivity, brush your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste. Using a fluoridated mouthwash, flossing daily, and avoiding highly acidic foods may also help in minimizing sensitivity. If you are currently bothered by sensitive teeth, visit your dentist. He or she can identify the cause of your tooth pain and recommend specific treatments to provide relief.
While mouthwash is not a substitute for flossing or brushing, it can be a great addition to your oral health routine. Using a mouthwash that contains fluoride can help prevent tooth decay by killing bacteria that live on the surfaces of your teeth.
Flossing is essential to your smile’s health. Regular use of dental floss is important for plaque removal, maintaining healthy gums, and preventing periodontal disease. By removing food particles and bacteria that build up between teeth, flossing helps keep your smile healthy and beautiful for life.
Cavities are permanent small holes that develop on the hard surface of your teeth. Tooth decay is associated with a variety of factors, including your dietary choices and dental hygiene routine. Brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes and flossing once a day are the most effective ways to remove plaque buildup from between the teeth and below the gumline. Regular teeth cleanings and checkups at your local dentist also support proper oral and dental hygiene, especially when combined with fluoride treatment. To minimize acid-producing bacteria that attack your tooth enamel, drink fluoridated tap water and maintain a well-balanced diet that is low in sugary or starchy foods and acidic beverages
When it comes to keeping your gums healthy, make sure you do not brush your teeth too hard. It’s safe to assume that everyone has experienced brushing while in a hurry, causing the toothbrush to slip and hurt the gums. Remember that your teeth are rooted in your gums, so you will want to keep them in good condition to prevent oral health problems
Yes — you can help prevent gum (periodontal) disease by: Brushing teeth rigorously at least twice every day Flossing between teeth after every meal and before bedtime Eating balanced meals, reducing snacks Keeping all of your regularly scheduled dental visits
There are a variety of products and procedures available to help you whiten your smile. Start by speaking with our dentist to determine whether whitening procedures would be effective for you.
Two times a year is usually enough for most patients, though your dentist, the hygienist, and yourself should work together to determine what is uniquely best for you, personally. Regular checkups are recommended to accurately assess the condition of your teeth and gums to prevent any problems. Regular visits help you maintain a lifetime of optimum dental health and keep an attractive smile.
If you don’t brush and floss your teeth daily, food particles will collect between the gums and teeth, and on your tongue. These particles then decompose, leaving an unpleasant odor. Bad breath can also be an indication that something more serious is happening with your health.
An alternative to conventional drilling, air abrasion is a process of using pressurized air with a non-toxic, fine abrasive powder to prepare a decayed tooth for treatment. Air abrasion is faster and quieter than a drill. Anesthetic is not required and several teeth can be treated in a single visit. Air abrasion is only used on smaller cavities. Composites, or tooth-colored fillings can then be used to fill the prepared cavities.

The older metal braces are difficult to keep clean and teenagers simply do not have the patience, inclination or skill to brush around each tooth twice a day. Flossing is nearly impossible. As a result, a person can end up with cavities or damaged teeth when metal braces finally come off. Invisalign allows you to take off the trays whenever you want to and give your teeth the thorough cleaning and flossing they deserve.
This technology is highly suitable for teenagers who are very image conscious, as well as adults and older people who may be embarrassed by the traditional association of metal braces with young children. They may even believe that teeth cannot be moved in older people. But they sure can be.

Some of the causes of yellow teeth are genetic, environmental or pharmacological in nature. The most surface stains on the enamel or beneath the enamel in the dentin. They are caused by foods, beverages and lifestyle behaviors, like smoking and over time the stains may penetrate the enamel and change the color of the dentin which makes the appearance of the tooth due to the translucency of the enamel layer. When this occurs, the tooth often appears yellow.

Yes, sweets and foods with acid, like candy and soda, could stick to teeth and lead to cavities. Smoking and chewing tobacco can cause oral cancer and gum disease. While teeth are strong enough to chew ice and tear open packages, this can break them and stress your jaws. Gritting or grinding down on teeth when you're stressed may crack them. Biting your nails is another bad habit. It pulls your jaw out of position and changes how your teeth fit together.
Caps and crowns cover problem teeth by surrounding them in a material that looks like a real tooth. They use the root and inside of the tooth as a base to build on, then attach with special cement. Veneers and bonding improve your smile by sticking a layer of smoother and whiter materials like porcelain or resin to the natural tooth. Talk with your dentist about which fix is right for you.
Stores sell many whitening products, and you can get take-home gels and trays from your dentist, but neither is as strong as procedures done in a dental office Check with your dentist for advice before you buy, especially if you have dental work or dark stains. And don't keep using them, or you could damage your teeth.
Sealants protect against cavities that can form in the natural tiny holes and cracks on the outside of teeth. Kids from about 6 to 12 benefit from having sealants painted and hardened onto the chewing surfaces of their back teeth, or molars. Adults can get sealants as well to protect teeth that don't have fillings. Dentists or dental assistants put sealants on in an office visit, and it's painless. They last around 2-4 years.
Cavities break through the surface enamel of teeth, and they'll probably get bigger unless you close them off with fillings. Your dentist will numb your mouth before drilling around the cavity to prep it. A combination of strong materials or a white mix called a composite goes into the cavity soft and then hardens as it dries. You may feel pain or pressure when getting the numbing shot and during the drilling. Once set, fillings can last a long time but need replacing if they break or wear down.
Visit a dentist if you have any of these issues or see your child having trouble chewing or complaining of soreness: - Mouth sores - Jaw pain - Redness - Swollen face or gums - Tooth sensitivity - Broken teeth - Dry mouth - Bleeding gums - Bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth Getting checked out right away prevents more serious problems and infections.
Most children begin losing their baby teeth between the ages of six and eight. They typically fall out in roughly the same order in which they grew. Keep in mind that all patients are different. Children and adult oral conditions depend on how long they've gone without an appointment, how long a child's baby teeth last, and what kinds of things you are naturally more sensitive to. Next time you're at the dentist, don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have; They are there to help! With these questions queued up, you'll never be in doubt about the state of your oral health.
It depends - there are different kinds of mouthwash. Cosmetic mouthwashes aim to freshen breath and to maintain a healthy teeth color, but they contain fluoride to help fight cavities as well. Therapeutic rinses work to help treat conditions such as gingivitis, tooth sensitivity, and inflammation. For more advanced conditions, prescription mouthwashes often contain chlorhexidine gluconate to kill bacteria that cause bleeding, inflammation, and plaque or biofilm formation.
The best way to ensure a healthy mouth is to follow a balanced diet and regularly visit the dentist while maintaining your oral care routine with twice-daily brushing and once-daily flossing. Protect yourself against problems that can advance quickly by discussing these questions with your dental professional.
Dental health varies from person to person; a general rule for adult patients is to visit their dentist once or twice a year, even if your mouth is in excellent condition. This way, you can get your teeth professionally cleaned regularly and maintain excellent oral health.
