This place in almost intolerable except for the physical therapy which is the only redeeming quality. The people are left uncared for. Unless you speak up for yourself you will not be cared for as well. I do not recommend this place for anyone! The first day I was here I fell and nobody would help me get up from the floor. I called 911 and got myself out of there. Do not stay here under any circumstance!

My sister is a diabetic, pre-dialysis patient, partially blind with chronic heart failure and chronic anemia. During the last 4 months she has been admitted to Montefiore Hospital 3 times, due to her ups and downs. That is why we decided to intern her temporarily, in a Rehabilitation Center, to have her constantly monitored and cared for. However, at that facility they were never able to control his high blood sugar level, which was normally over 400 hundreds! Because of that, she is having more damage to her kidneys and her A1C is up. On July 12, he was scheduled for eye surgery, but neither the promised escort nor transportation was provided. I had to fly there, take her to Mt Sinai hospital by myself in an Uber very late, but thank God they were able to operate on her. On July 22 at 7:00 p.m. Before leaving the center, I asked the nurse to check his blood sugar level and it was 415, very high, as usual. He said he had to call the Doctor to find out how many units to inject as it was "too high". However, half an hour later, she did not show up, my sister was dizzy and I had to run 3 times to the nursery for help. Finally, I said to the nurse: Do you want her to die? she said she'd inject some units in the meantime, but I'll monitor her in half an hour, but she never came back. Thank goodness he didn't fall into a diabetic coma that night! At that point I decided to send an email reporting that specific case, plus a summary of other neglected cases with my sister, to Elizabeth and Nazareth, (2 good employees there), and they forwarded it to Social Worker and others. In that email I said that due to her careless and negligent conduct with my sister, I had to move her to a new one. Before that, I spoke with the Director of Nursing, explaining my sister's delicate condition and how vital it was for her eye surgery to have her blood sugar and pressure under control. I discussed the same thing with other employees, but they never paid attention to my requests. I recognize that some EMPLOYEES ARE VERY KIND AND NICE, but the PROCEDURES with patients are horrible. On July 8, I brought a medication from her dermatologist that disappeared for two weeks from the reception. Also, another nurse also disappeared his glucose sensor that he was supposed to put on my sister's arm. On top of all that, my sister lost 7 pounds during her first week because of the horrible food they served there, and because of that she was always hungry. Such negligence is not supposed to exist in a rehabilitation center. That is not the point of being a REHAB. I would never recommend that facility even to my worst enemy. Also, the day she was transferred to the new facility, instead of taking care of her for at least the last time, trying to keep her in good condition, they sent her in very BAD condition. When he got there, the diabetic machine couldn't even read the number as it just said "HI". My sister was a ticking time bomb, and she barely made it to the Gold Crest Nursing Facility, (the new one), where they are doing an excellent job for her, just as I expected and demanded from the Fordham Nursing REHABILITATION CENTER. I wish I could NOT EVEN give them ONE STAR, but that option doesn't exist. May God forgive them.
