I am so happy to have made the decision to have my husband live at Sunrise at East 56th. He is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's, and ten years of managing his care at home had become overwhelming. The care he receives at Sunrise is skilled and empathetic. When I visit, he always shows the signs of being well cared for. He smiles a lot, and even though he had very good care at home, he has begun to use language more, and his physical abilities have improved as well. I really enjoy my frequent visits, since the community feels like a family and Sunrise is gorgeous! If any issue arises, communication with me is immediate, and the staff is very accessible should I have a question or concern. Activities are engaging and varied, including performances byJuilliard musicians and dancers!

If you have searched, compared and debated endlessly for a community that can provide your loved one with the ultimate in personal, customized, professional loving care, look no further. Peace of mind is what I was after and Sunrise At East 56th has an abundance of it. I firmly believe that the community is at the pinnacle of assisted living and memory care, in NYC and beyond. Searching communities for mom went on for months and I have seen nothing like this community. For me, it starts with people and this community has clearly attracted the best in the business. The team of specialists are simply amazing, because they actually do…care. Doctors, Concierge, Resident Care, Programing / Activities, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Sales, Physical Activity and Fine Dining. Sound like a 5-star hotel? Because it actually feels like you are experiencing a 5-star hotel…except for the pool. They do have beautiful spaces located throughout the building as well as penthouse / rooftop access, however. :) From the incredible level of communication from all departments, embracing cutting edge technological advancements in medical care, centralizing doctors and specialists, as well as the beautiful décor, Sunrise At East 56th is the endgame. As with life….it is all in the details and they have completely nailed it on all fronts. Tom and his incredible staff, give me peace of mind and mom…a sense of pride and belonging. I have visited many communities before this and I wish it had been my first stop. Also…and so important…Food. Dining here has won the ultimate praise from my mom who is very difficult to please…I am sure that you know what I mean. Chef Jim and his talented team prepare and professionally serve well thought out and amazing meals each day for the residents. On top of that, my mom is never bored. The programming and activities teams are so engaging, creative, responsive and patient. They also have an app so that I can “look in” and see videos and pictures of the activities and performances mom is participating in as well as the weekly dining menu and upcoming events. Visiting, parking and transportation to Dr.’s appointments are made simple and easy. This is so important if you or your loved one calls NYC home. Absolutely schedule a tour and see for yourself!
