To many non-Vet people in this shelter. Mentality I'll people that get no help. I blame this on DHS.No shelter is perfect but 20 years ago I believe it was all vets the food was better .Security was better all they do is sit and play with their phones that goes for the house staff. The case manager are over worked they need about 10 to 15 more of them.

Home away from home, best RESIDENCE I step foot into years ago..Still is a good residence to save money and get yourself together...Anyone who could not handle it, try Bedford and Atlantic city shelter ..You will learn real quick where u at.....LONG LIVE BAVR.....

Was great, but a lot of violence. Loud believe to be drug addicts or individuals that have mental disorders during quiet hours. No special treatment for military veterans. 2 .murders and 3 assaults within the Veteran facility. Laundry sometimes changes hours. Sometimes the shower is cold. Great staff regarding supplies and program guidance.

A good environment to get back into productive work .

Yes. There are housing personnel that helps with search.
Google borden ave veterans residence. They dont like to pick up so you just gotta keep calling.
You must be referred by NYC DHS (Department of Homeless Services). Which means you start at Bellevue Mens shelter, then go to another regular shelter somewhere. During your intake be sure to state your veteran status and desire to go to Borden Ave. Upon intake at your second shelter be sure to re itterate your Borden Ave preference. It can take anywhere from 1 day to months to get transfered to Borden, depending on availability... You asked this a year ago and hopefully your situation has greatly improved. I hope this helps you or anyone else. Good luck, God Bless and Semper Fi to all my fellow devil dogs.
No. They are primarily a veteran shelter bit they are still a shelter. There are people who come and go briefly that are not veteran's. But if you have any other option take it. You will hate this place. It's horrible. So much so the mayor is shutting it down and re hiring all new people and hopefully renovating
