1st and last visit. Seemed like a good vibe walking in, as we tried a new place before a Saints game. We sat out on their patio and enjoyed the outside area. We had beer and a two items to share- fish tacos and 16 wings. We LOVE fish tacos, so get them frequently- which is why we were SO disappointed in these. $16 for two flour tortillas, some slaw and the tiniest fried piece of cod. Seriously- I would have sent it back for some more protein, but our server never came back to check on us once we got our food. No water refills. The wings were great- crisp and seasoned well. No complaints on them! We are generous tippers normally, but tipped according to her level of service last night, as a way to say “ step it up please”.

We stopped in here after the baseball game at CHS, and I wasn't sure exactly what to order. I started with the Little Nikkis Caramel Banana Egg Rolls. This was a super well balanced dessert. I find that banana can sometimes be hard to execute well but they did a great job. The banana sort of balances everything out, but it also ties everything together at the same time. Now onto the pizza which was the star of the show. I have never even seen this place come up as a recommendation for pizza but it ranked pretty close to some of my favorite spots in the cities after eating it. When I saw it come out, I was pretty surprised because visually it passed the test. Again, I didn't even know this place made pizza so I wasn't totally sure what to expect. The sauce had some good flavors going on, and they definitely use a higher quality cheese that was tasty. I think it was wood fired pizza just due to how it came out and how the bottom was cooked, but I could be wrong. It was paper thin, super crunchy, and it was still able to maintain it's shape at the same time. I was super impressed by the quality of pizza this place puts out, and I would defintely eat here again if I was in the area. It was cut a little funky, but when the pizza comes out tasting that good, that doesn't matter to me whatsoever.

Brian the bartender took care of my order the cooks in the back (Quentin & Rachael) made sure I had an extra crispy N.Y.C style pizza and they did a hell of a job. I recommend this place not only for family but also for those that want good food & drinks mixed with customer appreciation. There is some locals that come in and just by the interaction you can tell Dark Horse is and will be a local Bar & Eatery favorite!!!

I was completely impressed by every aspect of the food. I ordered the food for pick up. It was promptly ready when they said it would be. The smells that filled my vehicle were exciting and titillating. My lady and I got the food upstairs and immediately opened the Mac & Cheese! A lovely melted cheese and crispy onion top crust awaiting my spoon to plunge into a soft, warm noodle and cheese whiz magma of flavor. We then opened the next box giddy like kids on Christmas except to eat the delicious presents made for us by DARK HORSE! The wings! Bourbon BBQ Wings and Dry Rub Ranch! Crispy and delicious! The Cornbread was outstanding and brisket fantastic!

Questions & Answers

Do I need a reservation on a Saturday night?

WhiskeyOne | Mar 17, 2020

It's not a reservation kind of place, however if it's a nice evening with events going on at CHS field or Rivercentre/Xcel Arena there's a very small chance there could be a short wait. If it's that kind of night or you're celebrating an occasion with a group of 6+ it wouldn't hurt to call ahead earlier in the day.
