I have been training at First Defense Krav Maga since 2014. My experience there has been top notch. When I first started at FDKM I expected I’d learn self-defense and probably get some good exercise. While that’s been the case, I’ve gotten so much more out of my classes there. Besides learning the actual Krav Maga techniques and tactics, my self-confidence, decision making skills, and reflexes have improved tenfold. Nick, a co-owner, who has the patience of a saint, is an amazing instructor and practitioner. He’s great at adapting his instruction to meet individual students’ needs and abilities. FDKM is also extraordinary in how it welcomes and encourages people from all walks of life to learn to defend themselves. Ann (the other co-owner) and Nick offer several levels of classes for very young kids to older adults. There are classes for those who are just beginning, as well as for intermediate, and advanced students. IMHO, there is a place for everyone at First Defense Krav Maga. Love this place!

Outstanding facility. I have been absent from training for a while but I started my Krav-Maga journey 10 years ago. Nick is a very thoughtful, intelligent, and respectful instructor. He accepts you as you are and supports you in whatever you want to accomplish. Ann is always supportive and makes everyone feel welcome. Paul, Chris, Sam, and Pete have all risen through the ranks not only are they skilled they are good people as well. There are more great instructor there but there are too many to list. In summary if you're interested in being part of a family focused on improving fitness, confidence, and the ability to defend yourself, First Defense is a great place to go.

The positive reviews are spot on for First Defense. This place has expert krav maga instructors, and everyone who works there is welcoming, patient, and kind. The owners have built a fun and warm community. I've been a member for several years now, and I can't fathom finding a better self-defense institution than this. I highly recommend this place for anyone and everyone!

If you are even mildly considering exploring Krav Maga (or any other self-defense or fitness adventure), look no further and come in to First Defense! You CANNOT beat the 3-class pack to try it out -- you won't find a deal like that anywhere! The membership rates are also amazingly reasonable. I came in with ZERO experience, no athleticism to speak of, and a general nervousness about trying something new like this. Everyone is so great and welcoming, and I quickly got comfortable in what has truly felt like a judgement-free zone. The instructors are phenomenal; everyone has a bit of a different style, there's no way to get bored, and you'll pick up on nuances from each of them. Classmates, even those who have been practicing Krav for way longer, are encouraging and helpful. You'll get a great workout, learn practical self-defense, develop confidence and self-assurance, and make friends along the way. The only regret I have is not checking it out sooner!

Thank you for your interest in Krav Maga here at First Defense! Unfortunately, we do not offer classes where both Adults and Children train together. This is due to the curriculum that is taught here and how we present training to Adults vs. Kids. In our Youth program, our lessons are geared towards situations and threats that age group will most likely experience, see, and be able to successfully execute a defense against the attacker relative to their size and capabilities. For instance, Kid's will not train against Gun defenses, opposed to adults who will learn different gun disarms. Realistically, Kids will train how to deal with gun situations differently than adults. We do on occasion invite parents to join their children to train, to learn how to practice techniques at home.
Hi! We'd recommend coming in so we can better assess how training Krav Maga might best work with your specific disability. That could range from modifications in class to arranging private lessons. If you'd like to schedule a meeting ahead of time, let us know!
