i dont have a probate case i have a INT case a conservator/guardian case that needs to be closed out. my Mom passed away in October of 2021. No will. Conservator tried to convince me that i have to file a probate case in DC however that was not correct. i had to file a probate case in maryland where my mother reside. final accounting has been done. All my mom had was a bank account that Montgomery County appointed me the personal representative. The conservator tried to keep me from having access to my mom bank account for fear that i will take all money out and she not get paid. Thats not the case. I told the court I am fully aware of the consequences for doing that. All final accounting has been audited. I been waiting four months for the court to approve.

I submitted my Petition for Administration of small estates. It was not accepted because of "missing paid funeral bill." I specifically had included it in the packet and it was stamped received May 25 2021. I could not reach anyone to ask what to do. Live Chat was nowhere to be found!

You can search the Court's website to see if a Will was filed for the decedent https://www.dccourts.gov/superior-court/cases-online
Supposedly there are forms online you can file. For small estate: Http://www.dccourts.gov/internet/public/aud_probate/small.jsf Didnt hear about any services being suspended. Unfortunately it would be best to go in person. It took me 3 visits to get the paperwork filed correctly.
As an attorney I don't do anything about it because my fees are too high to justify the expense of re opening estate
Yes, particularly since estate funds are in DC. File while child is in DC with Dad.
Correct! And there is a fee for the copies. I seem to remember the machine taking only coins so go prepared for that. They are on the 3rd floor.
Nothing..if you have death certificate
I am sure you can. Check in the search section on the website.
how can I locate a will from the 1980's
Depends on the form. Most of the forms are on the register of wills website.
There is street parking but its usually full. There is a garage near that costs 1 dollar for first hour and gets up to I believe 3.50 for 2nd hour.
