They are great. Nice place. Specially when you need help.

I adopted a mixed breed dog from here. You could tell everyone here truly cares about the animals. My dog had grown close to his caregivers. He was in good health and happy. Now he has his furever family! We love him so very much. He is amazing. Lovable, sweet, smart. (A bit stubborn so he fits right in with the rest of us. Lol) Thankyou to the Frederick County Animal Control and Adoption for saving this little guy. UPDATE: We have had our wonderful furever family member for about a year. He is wonderful. We all love him to peices. I'm so glad these people took such great care of him until we found him. Make this your first stop when looking for a furry family member. They are here because they care and the furry friends know it.

First, to go to the shelter, you need an appointment, that you have to get through their website, not by phone. Their reasonning being that it is less stressful for the animals! It is not true.... those animals are stressed, dogs are barking for attention, cats are up their cage for attention too! It seems that the people employed by the shelter are all in the lobby, hiding behind their counter, not taking care of the animals: several dogs had feces in their cages and nobody was around to clean them up.I am lying, an employee had the time to stay still behind us, not doing anything except looking at us... I guess they were working! There were several volunteers too. They were wandering around, not taking care of the animals either. I really only saw 1 person doing a great job at cleaning and sanatizing a cat cage! It is a desolation. The animals are extremely stressed and nobody seems to care!

Yes, there is a very verbal rooster here!
I know that once animals are placed on the floor or website, they are taken care of and not killed by the shelter
They do not. You will need to reach out to a professional wild animal catcher. Try Mid Maryland Wildlife Management.
Yes, they have them available here
I believe that they do take small animals like that, but I would recommend searching for small animal rescues first.
Check with you're home owners association.
Not sure. You'd have to check. I do not work there. Sorry....
well a couple of years ago a litter of wild kittens were reported, the control animal arrived and took them away, they said they were going to be evaluated to see if they had the possibility of being adopted and if not they would at least do what was necessary to check that they were well and if possible they will not reproduce anymore.
She's at the animal control 16th
You can call them during business hours, or you can look online at their website to see some pets available for adoption. You will need to fill out an adoption form on paper and submit it to them for consideration, indicating which animal you wish to adopt. Adoptions are not done immediately or quickly and do require a completed application and interview.
You may want to give them a call or stop in.
They should, but I honestly dont know.i do know some ppl donate to help with adoption fees, so ask Linda about it. She's the manager
Yes I believe so. If not call the humane society.
No
They have them on occasion but it is all about timing if you want to adopt. Make frequent visits or follow them on Facebook to see who is available for adoption.
Why
Your best option is to call the Shelter and talk to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Yes
10 thru 14 you need a parent or guardian and 15 and up you don't but all information is on the website
You could face a fine/ ticket if caught.
They will take care of everything for you, but you are responsible for keeping any licenses/registrations up-to-date. Usually everything needs to be updated once a year.
It is legal to have them in maryland, but you have to get the smell removed.

I believe the Frederic County Animal Control sprays/neuter their animals before they are adopted out and the cost is embedded in the adoption fee. Since they already do the surgery, I do not know if they will issue a SNAP Certificate for any of their animals, or animals not from their shelter. But, you call them and they might be able to tell you where to go if they do not issue it.
15 or 20 if I remember right...somewhere around that price
I don't see why not... their goal is to find these animals safe and stable homes. Where they move to is just a detail that goes on their registration. Call them and ask about the process.
FCAC closes at 5pm
