Very clean, excellent staff, support alot of great research on native species. Boat tour is incredible and so are the trails. See multiple species everytime I go. Highly recommend!

Tony and I went to Folkston, GA outside of Jacksonville Florida basically across the state line. This swamp is full of Alligators and is a Refuge. The cost is $5 per person and if you take the boat ride it's only $25 each extra. The ride is 1.5 hours long. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We were the only ones on the boat, kinda like a personal trip. Very nice! We were on the 930am boat tour on a Wednesday so it wasn't very busy and very enjoyable weather. The bugs didn't bother us much, but we did have on quite a bit of bug spray!!! I tipped him $15 for the trip, we saw a turtle, 2 tiny frogs, several different species of birds, 3 Barred Owls and 4 Alligators. It was very enjoyable and I would definitely do again!! Highly Recommend you detour for the boat tour!!!

Yes, but you don't want those fish. The water is very shallow and relatively warm, and there's no current to speak of, so the fish are very small.
As previously stated, there are fires caused by lightning strikes. I don't believe there are any current fires as of 5.29.2019
Best I'm aware. Any boat can be put in as long as a 10hp or less motor is being ran. I've even seen bass boats with 9.9 motors.
No it's so Wildlife Preserve and it's protected land.
There are several camp grounds in the area but no camping is permitted at ONWR
Dogs are allowed on several of the hiking trails. Just not in boats or on the boardwalk due to the presence of alligators. Dogs must always be on a leash.
There is tent camping along the water trails, you must get a permit in advance and navigate to the locations by canoe/kayak (no motors). Land based tent camping is available at Stephen C Foster State Park, the west side of the Okefenokee.
Leashed dogs are allowed. Dogs are not allowed in buildings, boardwalk, or boats.
The phone number is 912-496-7836. The visitor center is not currently open due to COVID, but if you leave a message we will return your phone call. You can also call Okefenokee Adventures, the onsite concession at 912-496-7156 for general questions, etc.
Absolutely! You can either bring your own kayaks or rent through the concession, Okefenokee Adventures.
Boat tours are offered by the concession operation, Okefenokee Adventures. You can find out more about their rates on their website at okefenokeeadventures.com
Only canoe and kayak rentals available. They used to rent boats with 10hp motors but stopped sometime in the last few years. Last visit was May 20'. Check okefenoke adventures website for more info. Have fun.
To the refuge it is $5/vehicle for the entrance fee. It is good for 7 days and also covers admission to the Stephen C Foster State Park in Fargo (west side of the refuge). Tours and services provided by the concession, Okefenokee Adventures, is an extra charge.
Yes there are many different kinds of birds, and it is safe to bring a camera. Praries are the best places for bird watching. https://www.fws.gov/refuge/Okefenokee/wildlife_and_habitat/index.html
No it was open as of January 3rd it's a state park not a national park
Yes, there are two main parks where you can see wild life and then a vast set of roads where you can drive through the forest. Some places are pretty muddy though so be careful if you don't have 4-wheel drive.
This is a National Wildlife Refuge and not a National Park. There are no coins, but there are pins and patches, stickers, etc. and the location stamp for "Passport" books.
Not on site but across from entrance. Google Pastimes Camping & RV (they have a few cabins too). Got mine through Booking. com
Yes they have cabins, there around 125$ a night just have to call them. Very great place to go! Steven State Park Fargo GA
