They won't pick up a furniture donation from a storage unit. Explained it was very nice furniture, which it is, and they had zero interest whatsoever not even with any sort of recommendations on how to work out the situation.

I requested a pickup to donate two bikes, maybe a year ago or even before the COVID pandemic. No response. Imagine my surprise when I got an email last week saying they would be in my area today. I replied to the email and the woman responded that I would be put on the schedule. I followed up asking if they would knock on my door because items left out would likely be stolen. Well, the truck pulled up, the driver knocked, and he did most of the carrying into the truck. I had no problems whatsoever, he was very friendly and helpful, and gave me a donation receipt for taxes. The only thing they could not promise was a tighter arrival window; they could only confirm between 8am and 5pm. They picked mine up at 9:15am so I am happy! I do live within a mile or two of their place, so that may have helped me.
