This off leash area is very generous in space, and overall is a really great public spot for people to bring their dogs to go off leash in a bigger city! The one issue I have with it was more about one of the other owners. Her dog that was IMO far too aggressive to be off leash with other pups. This dog was actively dominating other dogs and chasing them when their body language was absolutely not inviting play. The owner seemed to be using the park as social hour rather than paying attention to her dog and correcting their behavior. The one time I believe she did see what was happening, she just laughed at the interaction between her dog and another (in which this other dog was not engaging in reciprocal play and kept trying to run away with tail down, just to be caught and plowed down) and turned away. I might be too sensitive about this, since I am a beginner with this dog park, but after my time at a few other off leash areas I expect someone with a more aggressive dog to be a bit more in control/focused on their behavior!

It depends on when you come to the park. After work hours it's quite nice, with a dogs of varying sizes, and it's more small to mid size dog friendly. Made the mistake of dropping by mid afternoon while on a stroll, the dog to human ratio was off, and it seemed like some of the dogs was just left there or the human being responsible, aka dog walker, was not super close by. One dog was being really aggressive with mine and I tried to shoo it off so I could put my leash on my dog and leave, and was yelled at by a Karen for "beating the dog". And a dude - with no empathy whatsoever - then said my dog was enjoying the chase when she was clearly yelping just a few minutes ago. Enter at your (dog's) own risk.

01/10/22 Parking Lot Entrance is not open but there are side lots for parking and decent trails to the dog area. There's the main area for the dogs, which features obstacles and entertainment, as well as, a smaller/shy dog area. We used the …

Lovely little spot - love that there’s stairs/different levels and unique areas to let your dog do their own thing. Great place to stop before or after a walk to nearby Green Lake as well. Could definitely use more garbage cans though.

Questions & Answers

Is this park fully fenced?

Yes, but not a place I'd take my dog.. It didn't feel very safe, was covered with woods, no sun could shine thru, and a tent city surrounded it. I didn't feel like me or my dog was safe.

When will it reopen? It's been closed and road barracaded for a year now since covid!

Actually, it is open. One side is barricaded (not sure why) but if you go in from the other end (coming up from East Green Lake Way N, and turning down West Green Lake Way N, driving past the soccer field and tennis courts) you can actually park your car at the park. I was there just the other day 😊

Do I need to park before getting there? Or is there a parking lot by the off leash area?

Yes, there is parking right at the off-leash area. You can't miss it.
