They always want to help. They also approved all my pain meds when needed.(the pharmacist just called and said it was high) I wouldn’t have made it through the parasites if they didn’t THANK YOU!

When you call, you are greeted by the automated answering service. It is one of the most frustrating things in the world. It is difficult to navigate, and it will try to hang up on you every minute or two. The second giant issue with HBCBS of NJ is the sleazy practice or updating coordination of benefits. Every year they stop paying my medical bills because “I might have other insurance”. I find out when my doctors tell me the bills are not being paid. I then have to contact Horizon to tel them, “I am still alive, I still don’t have other insurance, and never plan to pay for more insurance (that why I pay for this plan).” I am surprised this practice is legal. It seems the same as if an auto manufacturer took the seatbelts out of your car because maybe you got other seat belts. The only thing Horizon BCBS of NJ has going for them is their staff. If you somehow manage to get ahold of an actual worker (without the automated machine hanging up on you, you will get to experience the helpful professionalism of a terrific group of people. It is unfortunate they have to work for such a horrible company. If you have a choice, DO NOT CHOOSE horizon blue cross blue shield of new jersey.

I’ve always thought of this insurance company as wonderful but I am being absolutely tortured trying to get a medication I have been on for 20 years. They continue to ask me yearly To try the same 2 generic brands I’ve tried so many times and I have to continue to pay for them and retry them again. It has been 2 months of back and forth and horrendous miscommunication. I have to call out of work now because I can no longer get medication my doctor prescribes so I’m Sick at home with horrible Migraines and throwing up because the insurance company gets to tell me what I get to take instead of my own doctor even though the generic brands don’t work for me. It’s an absolute disgrace , I am a health care worker who worked with severely ill covid patients this whole Pandemic and I can’t even get a medicine to help me get through my day. Thanks !!!!!
