Very shady. Walk down to the river and fish. Vault toilets are surprisingly clean with plenty of TP. Camp host is very friendly and helpful with local knowledge of the area.

I've been here twice. Both times were around mid July. The fishing is okay. I think it depends when you go. The camp sites are great. My kids had an awesome time. The only bad thing I would say is both times I've been here, at night, their are spiders EVERYWHERE. big ones too. I've never been bit. You just have to really shake off your stuff before you pack up and head home lol.

We went fishing. Where we went (by the campground) we were there for half an hour before giving up because we kept getting snagged. The water was too shallow for there to be any fish, and definitely shallow enough to get stuck. Seems like a great place for swimming and camping!

If you have an SUV there is a dirt road that goes towards Hell Rapids. You can camp there for free.
When I was there, other campers told me they were "weaver spiders" due to the thick webs they wove in the bushes. They seemed to be pretty thick in the bathrooms as well, but they never bothered any of us. Therre were also tons of large, blackish brown Mormon crickets. Huge things running around everywhere. Fishing people were catching the Mormon crickets and using them as bait out on the Snake River. They were catching big catfish on those huge crickets.
no reservations at Steck Park. First come based only. There are many group sites on D, E loops.
I was there the week of June 24th and there were pepole walking by my camp site collecting cricket
They winterize end of October but yes you can. There is no water and such in the campgrounds. I confirmed with BLM. You can call number on website. They return calls pretty fast. Yes water way down.
The campgrounds are about 4 miles further along the same road and you can ride ATVs back and forth just don't drive them around and around in the campground
Yes. They have fire rings in some sites. But during the summer, the wind and heat sometimes makes it unwise.
