I took my 7 year old along and he did great. There are plenty of spots to step onto, avoid slipping, maneuver around things, etc, which is no problem, but it's mostly flat and easy to hike. The trail is mostly in a loop. There's a short section that runs out and back that takes you from the parking lot to the loop. On the loop there is very high, beautiful view of the lake. As far as safety goes, mind the edge when you're on the overlook. And also wear insect repellent. There are many areas with tall grass to walk through and ticks are always waiting . . .

We loved this trail. Didn't have on the right shoes as this was a spontaneous decision. But it was a great trail. Wear hiking shoes/boots! It is very "rocky"! There are yellow trail markers which helps the novice like me.

Great trail! It's not difficult to complete and was great for a short hike. Fantastic views of the water!!
