Jacked rates, no 96 gallon tote when recycling shifted to every other week, incomplete trash pickup. Very difficult to contact. They outsource billing, so billing disputes are a headache. Email notifications generally laced with whining. The folks doing the pickups are pretty good and personable. Hope they shift to a much better company. Plenty of chances given for correction, moving on to WM now.

I was going to change providers after seeing the 35% increase due to recycling being added onto my policy (33$ on top of the 88 I already pay quarterly). I called the office to see if they would price match any of the competitions offers i had gotten in the area, and the woman working told me that the price "is what it is" and they cannot compete with bigger companies pricing. Looking more closely at my bill, they are also charging almost 12% sales tax on my bill? Will be contacting our local tax authority as well as changing services immediately. It is what it is.

Service is adequate, though they seemed to stumble with recyclable pick-up when municipal policy changed, initially. Their pricing is simply not competitive at this time (7/2022).

I've been a B&N customer for the 6+ years that I've lived in Perinton. The service has always been excellent and I like the fact that I'm supporting a small, family-owned business. In the time I've been with them, I've only had two issues that I've needed to contact them about--a billing issue and a missed pickup--and both were handled quickly and professionally. Because of this usually great service, I find it difficult to be critical of B&N, but the way they handled the change in recycling policy in Perinton was horrible. The town sent out a mailing announcing the changes at least a month ago, so I knew it was coming, and I figured B&N would send something shortly after. Instead, the only thing they sent was a bill...and that came about a week after the first time they collected my recycling. I even went to their website about a week or so ahead of the change looking for information and I found an "under construction" page. Eventually the site was updated and I was able to find out when my recycling would be picked up, but really, who goes to their trash hauler's website? (Interestingly, the "under construction" page is back as of this writing.) I pay B&N annually. Service has been good and I have no plans to move any time soon, so getting the benefit of a price discount and what I thought would be insulation mid-year from price increases was worth the risk of losing money on the off chance that I'd need to cancel mid-year. Apparently that's not how it works, though, considering that I got a $65 bill in the mail. Instead, B&N feels can decide to charge me more when it benefits them, but still keep my money when I don't need their services anymore. I get that as a result of the policy changes, and gas prices going through the roof, B&N has to incur new costs, and I actually don't have a problem with having to pay more, but I would have liked some communication about it beforehand. A simple letter or even a postcard saying "this is what's happening, here's how and when you'll recycle, and because of our increased costs we need to charge you a bit more" would have gone a long way at keeping my trust. Instead, I felt in the dark and was a bit taken aback when a bill showed up unannounced. Now I'm seriously questioning whether I'll stay loyal to B&N when my prepayment runs out at the end of the year.
