I love this church! It has a good community feel, and the people are nice!

Been going to this place for 14 years so this is long over due. Put plainly, I would recommend this chruch over the others I've looked at. The church has gone through many changes, heck they got a new building & location if that doesn't spell it out. Many churches have gone through their paces and this church is no different. As of today, I'd give it a 4/5 stars. While my desire is to give a 5/5, nothing is so perfect. Not to mention it's a community where the relationships are in constant flux. With the arrival and departure of those in ANY community there are bound to be some changes that doesn't mix with some and others it does mix well. With all these things changing, there has always been 2 people that have kept me returning to the church regardless of any negatives the church may have had. I'll begin with politics. The air is thankfully light as there is a mix. Not only has pastor Devin said as much but the eyes and ears I have connected with agree with him. I am fairly thankful that the focus has not been to justify a political side. While the community has its stance, the leadership (save for 1 outspoken elder) have done well to try and keep the focus on God and Jesus. Youth is not an aspect I'm plugged into as much anymore but my youngest brother is. From what I have seen and heard, the youth ministry is great. They not only learn but are enjoying themselves within the community. Worship is a bit of a double edge sword at the moment, at least for me. The quality of the singing is top notch and I've been hard pressed to find another church with such quality. However with the focus and bounty of quality worship comes the sacrifice of plenty others. The best way to describe it is "tunnel vision". The number of songs sung is less than 15 if not less than 10. This has been the case for so many years it gets fairly dull after a while. Yes, focus on the lyrics, but if you read/preach on the same 10 to 15 chapters in the Bible many are bound to desire some variety and for some they demand hearing something else. The saddest part is, when you praise the fact that a new song comes into the worship routine, it's is often met with the back of a hand. This is not to say they aren't good people. Hence why I used the words "tunnel vision" versus other words. The worship team doesn't seem to be able to see the lack of diversity it has and its painful. If they can see it and bring in new songs and other routines, the worship team can explode to amazing new heights. When it comes to sermons, pastor Devin is the one who primarily delivers them. With guests, mileage varies (which is the case for every church), but Devin does a fantastic job. Ive gone to many church before I landed with Crestview and when moving away, I've always found myself returning to Crestview on YouTube. It is in fact one of the couple of reasons why I'm still at Crestview if not the biggest reason. It is almost indescribable how massive the shoes to fill would be if Devin were to decide to pass the batton. Anyone to come after will find themselves before a mountain that would intimidate any soul. Note that I have not stated that it's not possible to fill the position but that it will be difficult to an absurd degree. Now concerning the pastors. Above I mentioned 2 people that kept me returning to crestview. Devin and Jarred. These two have been at the church since I first arrived and both have kept me returning. These two bring incredible balance to the church. Devin is great when it comes to taking time to listen and hear you. Jarred is great when it comes to needing a push and good kick in the rear. Needless to say, if both were to end up departing regardless of reason, I would find my time with returning to crestview very limited. The pastors are what hold the rating so high for me besides the other shortcomings the church may have.
