My loved ones have been in this longterm care for many years and I will never move them. Compassionate care for the whole life (mind, body, soul).

All nurses and therapy employees I had the privilege of working with during my home health needs were very professional and I felt they all had my needs as their first priority when they were at my home.

I can't think of a better retirement community than Meadowlark Hills. I've had family members and friends live up here that were treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. There is an endless amount of activities and opportunities to be engaged with each other and members of the community. I'm decades away from living in a place such as this, but when it comes time this will be at the top of my list.

Had a friends family member who lived there.. who ended up with horrible bed sores to the bone.. Thus place needs reported to the state..

Depends greatly on the level of care. Independent living, assisted living, healthcare, memory support?
Our Board of Trustees is composed of a minimum of three current Meadowlark Hills residents (who are selected by fellow residents) and one representative from each of Meadowlark Hills' six sponsoring churches. The remainder of the Board consists of members-at-large from the community who are chosen by the Board.
Meadowlark Hills is owned and operated by Manhattan Retirement Foundation, an independent not-for-profit corporation. Manhattan Retirement Foundation also oversees the operations of the Meadowlark Foundation. Meadowlark Hills and the Meadowlark Foundation are managed on a day-to-day basis by persons directly employed by the Board of Trustees.
In 1998, the Meadowlark Foundation was formed to provide charitable support to Meadowlark Hills. A 15-person board is responsible for fundraising efforts. For more information about the Meadowlark Foundation and how you can contribute, see the Donors section
Over 200 residents live in our independent living apartments and cottages, 40 residents in assisted living, 130 residents in our healthcare households, and 16 in our Home Plus locations. Meadowlark employs approximately 500 employees.
In simple terms, the business philosophy that drives Meadowlark's not-for-profit status enables us to put our surplus back into operations, rather than pay out profits in dividends. More importantly, our not-for-profit status represents a philosophy of care, demonstrating our commitment to providing the best in services and a seamless continuum of care for our residents. Our high standard of care directs every decision made here at Meadowlark.
In addition to offering different living spaces and levels of care, CCRCs take the approach of providing a rich, vibrant community for residents. That sense of community is what sets them apart from nursing homes and other retirement facilities, says Lonnie Baker, Chief Executive Officer, Meadowlark, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing senior lifestyles. “Stand-alone nursing facilities are limited in terms of the activities and amenities they can provide,” he says. “At a CCRC, residents have numerous options on how they spend their time.”
People often use terms like “assisted living” and “long-term care” interchangeably when referring to places to retire long-term. But different facilities provide varying accommodations and levels of care for older adults. Continuing care retirement communities, also called CCRCs, offer a full spectrum of living options and levels of care. With stand-alone and household units, residents have a choice in their living space. And as their needs change, seniors can easily transition from one type of living space or level of care to another.
