I want to start out by trying to help others that might have been or before they become a victim of commercialized martial arts. Our son wanted to get into the martial arts. We did some research and decided to go with Tae Kwan Do. Our son was very interested but the longer we went the more we noticed to advance or do anything with this type of martial arts the cost began to pile up. I am not saying or trying to say do not let yourself or child experience Tae Kwan Do. What I am trying to say is beware of who or where you go and on Professor Geary's website I cannot stress enough of what he says by DO YOUR RESEARCH before finding the right place to either introduce you or your child(ren). I am trying to help those who were in our predicament and ended up spending countless dollars for every and any little thing that had to do with this place. After doing much research and finding professor Geary, he had opened our eyes to what some may call martial arts but are really in it to just make money and not really define who or what your child or yourself could and can become. I have personally talked with Prof. Geary and right away knew he is a straight forward no B.S. person who loves what he does and will let you know any and everything you might have questions about. He is kind and caring and as my son took one class, he showed me how he is there to teach the kids and not just take your money. After talking with him and watching how things are done I highly recommend that you do your research and research his website as well. If you truly research I know you will find his Kempo Karate place the best place to learn Martial Arts. My wife and I are looking forward to see how our son will progress and learn the ways of Kempo Karate. It is exciting to know that our money spent will finally be in a place that our son will learn and grow not only in Kempo Karate but in every aspect of his life.

Hello Ashleigh, Kickboxing offers a great cardio workout, an opportunity to socialize, increase weight loss, improve balance and stress reduction. If you’re just looking for a cardio workout (kicking and punching a bag), Kickboxing would be great for you but so would many other sports and health related activities. That’s why Kickboxing is done primarily in health clubs. The bottom line comes down to this, what are you looking for? If you’re looking for practical self-defense to defend yourself against multiple attackers and those attacking you with different punches, grabs, knives, guns, clubs and from many angles then Kempo gives you many more practical tools to use. If your car broke down and two mechanics showed up to help you, who would you want to pay to help you before the other one left? The one with just a hammer who will beat on your engine and hope that something good will come of it or the one that comes with hundreds of tools to fix the problem(s) many different ways?
The smaller class sizes are nice because we get more individualized attention and you also get to know your fellow students better. I would feel very overwhelmed and discouraged in a larger class.
Hello Joshua, Tae Kwon Do is a very popular Korean kicking-based art that is now practiced commercially all over the world. Kempo, on the other hand, is rarer and is a blend of Chinese and Japanese martial arts (Karate, Kung Fu and Jujutsu). Tae Kwon Do is more of a commercialized sport while the art of Kempo is more of a practical martial art system. The art of Kempo is a combination of ancient fighting techniques with modern scientific principles that provides realistic self-defense for real life situations.
