Nuclear is the future. Thank you.
J ay
If you don't know, there use to be a boy scout camp here, and FPL employees had access. I don't know exactly when it stopped but we were able to get out here with my father into the late 80s and had some of the best wildlife experiences I had in coastal Florida.

There are a lot of weirdly misguided people here. Pushing Religion, fear, extreme environmentalism, ect. Not a whole lot of facts. The FACT is that, Nuclear is incredibly energy dense, and it produces enormous amounts of more energy than traditional fossil fuels. Emissions are also as low if not sometimes lower than renewable energy (yes, renewable energy has emissions and waste, everything does, renewable energy isn't magic). There is waste, but it is so miniscule in comparison to fossil, even more so if you count Emissions as waste too. Dont give in to fear, accidents have happened in the past but they are so fiew and far between and will only continue to become even more rare than they already are as time progresses. You dont know the nature of all accidents that have happened, nor how many lives fossil fuels have taken or ruined. Only about 3% of nuclear waste is actually significantly radioactive, the waste can be recycled but the US refuses to. Listen I could sit here and write a whole paper in this, point is, do research that's unbiased. Nuclear is not perfect, NO feasible energy source is. But it is YOUR biased and baseless fear yet constant demand for power that's keeping Fossil Fuels so prominent. Cry for the eviroment and against nuclear, and keep your AC running 24/7 right? Be realistic. If you want to ruin the air you breathe even more, keep dping what you're doing. You're making Fossil Fuel producers a looot of money by fearing nuclear.

I have not seen anything more ridiculously dangerous from an airplane... enormeous nuclear power plant right between two national parks, very close to majorly dense population areas, right next to the ocean, subject to hurricanes and storm surge. Based on research, turns out this 'safe plant' is polluting the environment with nuclear waste (surprised?). Tested county water had more than 200times the normal levels of tritium, a radioactive isotope linked to nuclear power production. Also, the nuclear units designed in the 60's were not designed to operate for decades beyond the projected 40-year lifespan of the reactors without additional environmental review (which is still due). Aging units are more likely to have accidents or other problems that imperil the environment, and continue to pile up nuclear waste for which the federal government has no safe storage place.

No. It's not that type of nuclear facility. Short answer " NO BOOM!!: Rest assured..
Hurricane Maria on the horizon I doubt it anytime soon
The plant water cooling is done behind the plant, in canals built specifically for the purpose. For some reason, crocs and alligators love the water temperature and those canals have the highest population density of crocs anywhere in the world. Think thousands per square mile
It has withstood the effects of hurricane Andrew as a category 4. The Containment structures are built to withstand a 747 plane direct impact without effect. Cant say much about the surrounding building. With concrete walls 5 feet thick with 2 inch diameter thick steel rebar for reinforcement. I'm sure there will be damage to surrounding areas. but not to the two reactors and as a result the public will remain safe.
The plant sustained no damage from hurricane Dorian! These plants are designed to withstand everything from hurricanes to direct plane crashes into the reactor containment buildings. Rest assured - one of the safest places to be during a direct hit of a cat 5 would be inside one of the reactor containment buildings. You can find more info about the NRC's standards and plans for hurricane readiness here: https://www.nrc.gov/about-nrc/emerg-preparedness/respond-to-emerg/hurricane-response.html
No leaking radiation - even for the workers directly inside containment, radiation doses are strictly controlled and no one is allowed into a radiated area once they reach a certain dose. Ensuring that everyone inside and outside the nuclear plant is safe from radiation.

Apply on the janitorial companies serving the plant.
The rods get buried in super safe concrete coffins there they will decay in the next hundred million years.
This is a google site. Company officials will probably never see your request. I'd suggest you go on a bid site working with Florida Power and wait for bid requests regarding trucking and deliveries and submit your offer there.
No there is no need for worry...The alarms you are hearing today 09/04/20 are tests...NOT ACTUAL ALARMS.
Yes
There is no danger.
I'm sure you saw on the website a word that said contact? As far as a tour you'll get to see what the grade schools do when they go.
