Murphy's On-Site RV Repair

This is the letter that my 82 and almost 86 year old grandparents received from Murphy’s On-Site Repair. Here are the facts: Yes, my grandpa did call their business and then Scott’s cell phone early in the morning on July 3rd. Scott did not answer a call until 8:30. The total length of this phone call was 5 minutes and 40 seconds. This was the only conversation they had that day. No, they didn’t “educate” my grandparents on how to empty their grey water tank. They have been camping since before Scott Murphy was alive. The issue they had was solved by emptying the grey water, something they hadn’t thought of as a solution. They also had a question about the thermostat in the water heater, a part which Murphys replaced and hasn’t worked right since, as it now doesn’t switch to gas, and when it’s on electric the water is scalding. My grandparents don’t have Mark’s number and never called him. I have went through their entire phone log from that entire weekend. My grandparents had Scott’s personal cell phone number from camping with them for many years. They considered the Murphy’s friends. At no point during these two conversations did they ask my grandpa to not call them or tell him he would be charged for the phone call. No where on their website does it say they charge for phone calls and they were not “on site” as they charged my grandparents for. Here are a few things the Murphys could have tried if they were bothered by these phone calls: Politely asked my grandpa to call back during business hours Simply not answered the phone Blocked the number Instead he chose to do this and charge two elderly people for a service they didn’t receive and send them this rude, demeaning letter. Please share this so campers in the area know how Murphys treat their customers and how they send bills for surprise charges ($145 for a six minute phone call (more than they charge per hour for an on-site service)). Fortunately, I have an aunt and uncle who are permanent at River’s Edge and an aunt and uncle who are semi-permanent at Vista Royalle, so this “bill” is already making its rounds at those two campgrounds.

Murphys on site RV is fantastic. Great staff and very knowledgeable repair experts. We had emergency furnace repairs needed on our hunting camper furnace before forecasted cold weather would hit. Scott came to our site and made sure we were up and running before the cold came. Excellent service.
