So many adoption centers don't give a hoot about their pets personalities and finding the right pet for you is dependent upon a personality/lifestyle match. About a year ago, I contacted PAWS and gave them a tall order: I wanted a cat that liked people, was social, outgoing, and gave kisses. ...And they found me Princess Buttercup (a.k.a. Opal when she was at PAWS). I have never been disappointed. My son and I love Princess Buttercup like no cat before her. She is everything I asked for, even gives kisses!! She absolutely loves people and being a part of everything we do. She likes being held, cuddled and even enjoys belly rubs. So, thank you PAWS for taking the time to get to know the personality of your pets. Without that, we would not have found such a wonderful cat.

Simply wonderful. We adopted a kitten. The facility was a wonderful place for cats to live. They are fed excellent food, their shots are all up to date and every cat was happy. I wish we could have adopted another.

PAWS of Hertford County cannot take animals from the public. Please contact Hertford County Animal Control for stray animals or to surrender, if you are located in Hertford County. Once an animal is in their care, and their stray hold has been completed, PAWS will assess the cat or dog and may bring them into our care if we have the available resources.

As a volunteer-run rescue, visits to the shelter are by appointment only following an approved application. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an adoption application here: https://www.pawsofhertfordcounty.org/forms/. Once received, an adoption counselor will review your application and make arrangements for you to visit, if approved.
