I will start this review by saying they got my hair done and they took 5 hours for medium singles for $280 which doesn’t include washing, detangling or the hair. I don’t hate the hair results but the customer service experience alone had me drafting this review mid appointment. I usually do my own hair/avoid salons for the reasons I will list more specifically below but I will not be returning because the unprofessional-ism and pricing are ridiculous. If you simply must go some recommendations to make your experience better is to special request the owner, who actually asks a lot of questions to get you the hair results you want and clarifies. I asked for medium and wished my braider showed me the size because I actually wanted large (they gave me no references.) I made styling and comfort requests/inputs throughout the whole appointment and was told flat out no repeatedly. I’d ask them too loosen their grip and they would not, or ask to make a part bigger and told it couldn’t be done. After a $300 service my neck is stiff and I have a headache (which I will never normalize because I braid my own hair and don’t braid this tight. I don’t care if they last 2 weeks longer.) Also order your hair before you come. I brought my own hair (prestretched) which they recommended I not use because of durability reasons (they sell and use RastAfri) I bought 6 packs (I usually only need 4 at most) from their store and it was expensive and the owner told me they give a refund if they didn’t use it all (they only used 3 1/2 and they didn’t give the refund.) If you’re concerned for Covid be warned that none of them wear masks and there was a comment made about “boys wearing more make up than girls these days” which was said in a derogatory way I did not like. Lastly they asked me to come to my appointment at 7 and did not arrive till 7:30 with no compensation. When I was young I got my hair done by braiders like these ladies (poor communication, poor customer service, no sympathy for my tender head) I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. If you must get your hair done I advise you to think long and hard on what you want you hair experience to be and reconsider.

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE! NO EXPERIENCE BRAIDER! I made my appt for the next day at 2pm. My appointment was for 2pm because I had work at 6pm and the very simple box braids I wanted only took a 1.5hr. I arrived to Marie's Salon at 2PM. Marie did not come to the salon until 4pm. Then she proceeded to do a young man's braids before doing anything with me! I showed this woman 8 TIMES the box braids style I wanted from Google. She agreed. As she FINALLY began my hair I noticed that she was doing it incorrectly. I showed her the picture again, she agreed. As she proceeded to do my hair INCORRECTLY I noticed that it was being done that way deliberately for more money. She used more hair than needed and put more braids than asked! The very ugly, small braids she put in my hair took 2.5hrs WITH HELP from her family member that was just sitting around. ANGER, AND ANXIETY was all I felt during this entire experience! Then once finally done the old money hungry con artist ask me for $240. 🤯 I gave her $208 and its not even worth that! Karma is real. Be careful dealing with these Africans! And I wouldn't take my dog to Marie's!
