My son-in-law, Charles Jeffrey Holcombe, Sr., died on May 15, 2021! An autopsy was required because he died within 24 hours of being taken to the Emergency Room at University Medical Center. The original diagnosis was a brain bleed but the cause had not been determined! They were in an RV camping trip and there was no crime involved! This Saturday, October 2nd will be 20 weeks since his death!! We still have not received an autopsy report and therefore no death certificate! This is totally unacceptable!! No death certificate means my daughter can do nothing with insurance companies, selling of vehicles or anything!!! This is the most unlawful thing I have ever heard of. The Public Records act requires a death certificate be issued timely!!! 20 weeks Is NOT TIMELY!!!!

Last Tuesday my family and I drove an hour to New Orleans after the hurricane. My family and I were promised last tuesday by lisa that we would be informed when an autopsy was done, so we could see him. We called every day and could not get in touch with anyone. Finally we get in touch on monday and we are told that an autopsy was done five days prior. When asked why they didnt call after they said they do not do that???? oh okay so lets just call and tell someone their family member died, but not let them know the body is ready. Not to mention we did not even want an autopsy, but it was required. We understood that, but to not even call someone is disrespectful.

I appreciate the kindness and help this office provided. To others that had a bad experience here, maybe check your own attitudes first.

Yes it is. You would have to call the office and ask for the Chief Investigator.
I am not in a position to answer but I do need that question answered. I am going through the same problem. My spouse is an alcoholic, he has glaucoma and has been diagnosed with alzheimers. He does not sleep at night. He is very aggressive. He is constantly threatening me bodily harm. His memory has almost gone. He is an Ex professional boxer and when he goes through this aggressive stage which last about an hour I just make sure that I stay out of his way. Not to mention that he has left the house on many occasions and we had to report him missing. He leaves and cant find his way back. I there a place that he can be admitted. I have gotten to the point now that I do not trust him so i have to do something. I would appreciate some advice or suggestions. .
