I think you can. Best to call. They have a picnic area by the parking lot near the beach side. However, you just can't spend the night.

The only thing you can buy is an empire pass for state parks. For a county beach permit, go to cathedral pines in middle Island. Its a hidden gem that no one goes to.

There is always some there. Front parking attendant or check in desk. You will be able to free park but to set up camp you must get your assigned spot check in and your car voucher. The state police also have an office on the grounds. Its very well protected.

Most of the sites have trees for cover. Some more the others though. As for mosquitoes we did not see one. I think they do something to keep them away. Never hurts to have some spray or some citronella just in case though.

They have gorgeous huts that you can rent in the office season. Newly built and I believe off season 225 a night but are cheaper if you do it for a week

All depends. If your going to the beach/picnic areas,parking is limited and as soon as lot is full they stop CARS in. Outside of the park is VERY limited parking if any at all. If your turned away your best bet is jump back on william floyd and head to the other side of the island (about a twenty min. Drive) and go to smith point. Another very nice beach.

The days I was there (Saturday) my guest paid only $8 for the entire stay there. You will need to provide lic. # and they will give you a pass to leave in the car.

Wow these answers are terrible. The $10 fee is only active during camping season (April-September), and even then it's only until 4:00 pm. Go after 4:00 and you're good, or anytime October to March.
