It is a long, non-technical hike to get there, but it is pretty to see, particularly when it has partially iced over. Go early in the day, though, if you want to avoid crowds. Today, though (September 3rd), it is running pretty dry.

You start at 8000 feet to get to the Falls, so the hike is pretty easy. I love to do the whole loop trail via the fire road to get back to the parking lot.

A nice walk along the trail on the spur of the mountain until you reach the waterfall. Cold and refreshing water. There are small squirrels in the wild. Total about 9 km

Google Maps questions isn't the best source of information about the rapidly changing fire conditions. And smoke conditions. Tahoesouth.com seems to have info for all of Lake Tahoe area, CA and NV.
From Reno 395/580 turn west on Mt Rose Hwy (431)] about 16 miles to the Mt Rose Summit. Parking lot on the right. Trail begins past the restrooms.
