I have to give absolute praise to the team here at Banfield in Cary. They have been so good to my dog, Ranger. He was sick and had coughing and was retching for a couple weeks not getting any better. They got him in right away when I called even though I know it’s a very busy clinic. The vet, Dr. Taylor, personally called me and spoke to me on the phone for a while about a diagnostic and treatment plan. She’s a great veterinarian. The techs are all so good with my boy. He’s so excitable and full of energy and can be such a handful. But they give him treats and understand how to calm him down. Thanks to everyone from the front desk, to techs, to the Vet for making what was a very scary experience not as bad!

My boy got neutered today and I couldn't be more thankful for Dr. Neafsay and the awesome tech Emily who took amazing care of him and practically saved his life mid-procedure. To me, these people really seem to know what they're doing.

I have been going to Banfield on Walnut for over a year now and the service here is horrendous. My dog was diagnosed (not even at this hospital) with meningitis in early June, which they failed to put it in their notes. He was scheduled for his neuter surgery at the end of June and I was told it would be fine…it was not fine. I live 30 minutes away and was told day of surgery that the doctor would not do surgery due to him being on steroid medication. His puppy plan ended in July 29 and I was told that they would not do neuter surgery until he waooff medication, which would be in September. Therefore, I would have to pay out of pocket or add an additional $55 per month to wellness plan which would be $88/month. This is more than his puppy plan. There was no understanding of my situation, I was simply told this is how the contract works. Recently I went in for vaccinations and when asked when I needed to pick up by I told them as soon as possible as I had to work at 3. They told me that was fine. I stated again that he is on medication for his meningitis will this be an issue regarding his vaccines I was told no. I asked again once the vet tech came out to get him. Again I was told no it will not be an issue. 4 hours later around 1:30 I still had not received a call to pick up so I went to store (I was shopping in area). I asked for an update and was told that they did not know as doctor, Dr. Nolan, went to lunch. This was obviously frustrating as I had asked for him to be done ASAP as I had to work. I then asked if he had any work done at all and was told yes but the doctor had not given vaccines because she wanted to speak with me regarding his meningitis… why was I not told of this beforehand? When I had asked multiple times if this would be an issue?? Another vet, Dr Davis, then came out and said that they were short staffed and had someone walk out on them that morning. I replied I am sorry but that is not my fault to which she responded well it’s not ours either. I was shocked. If a worker walking out is going to affect the timing or efficiency of care my pet is receiving then it is your responsibility to let the owner know! Overall, just very unprofessional and the lack of communication between staff is horrendous.

First of all, I had to call literally 3 times, and was on hold for over an hour (3 calls combined). Just to find out that my pet had not been neutered yet at 2pm. I dropped him off at 7:15 am. Their excuse was that the clinic was short staffed, not my problem, at least give people a realistic expectation. This is not the first time. I will be canceling my premium wellness plan at a fee. I dont care, my pet's time is worth more than money.

No, but you can call us during hospital hours for urgent care advice. Depending on the situation, we can help provide a referral for urgent care, specialty providers, or to an emergency hospital. During non-hospital hours, please contact your local emergency hospital.
We believe that preventive care is the most effective way to keep your pet healthy throughout all stages of life. Our pet hospitals offer many preventive care treatments, including: • Vaccinations • Dental Care • Parasite Control • Nutritional Counseling • Behavioral Counseling • Comprehensive Examinations
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
