This place is AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. From Covid running rampant there, (the director said masks were encouraged not mandatory, tell that to the peoples families that will die from it) to missed and overdosed mediations., and everything in between. A patient rings a buzzer for 45 minutes because he's ill and has to throw a urinal in the hallway and yell for help because he's in isolation from covid with no room mate with no avail and no one comes to help him for over an hour. The food is loaded with salt..a heart patient none the less. The social workers are useless. I was under the impression social workers are there to help the patients.,,nope, not here. This place is an absolute nightmare. Read the article in the Phila Inquirer from 2 years ago how many people died there from covid while the staff was striking for the conditions. This place is an absolute disgrace and no one is coming out of there alive even if they went in for short term. Stay away.

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to write this review. I grew up around this facility long before it was St. Monica's. My mother worked there for many years. I used to eat lunch with the staff when eating with my mother. It was an amazing establishment. I used to joke that one day I would be putting my mother there when she got older. Well it is not a joke any longer. We are currently in the middle of trying to fill out the paperwork with our family attorney. Our family member is there for "rehabilitation." This facility is NOTHING like what it used to be. So far, the staff has mostly shown me their bad side. There are one or two maybe three staff members here or there that like their job and it shows. Other than those humans, the rest are making this place look bad. Their attitudes are larger than the facility. The disrespectful tones are used not only with our family member staying there but with the family members who call in to discuss business. The amount of training that needs to be provided to the staff here is going to cost millions. I am not sure how any upper management has not caught on to this sooner and corrected the issue before family member have to leave these kind of reviews. This leads to believe that the upper management must be no better. Trying to call this facility is another issue. Good lord. I have called each department on many occasions just to get someone to answer the telephone. Then when they do it is filled with horrible attitude. It is extremely upsetting knowing I have a family member here. My family member received a cut on her arm over this past weekend because of the staff's longer finger nails. No telephone call was made to me by the facility. I found out from my family member when I called to check in. I have sat on the telephone with my family member while they used their call button for help with something and they take their time. They might come anywhere from 30-60 minutes after the bell is rung. Sometimes they come quick and may need to return at a later time which we understand. But our family member is old and starts to freak out and get upset and there is nothing I can do when I am not local. The last thing we want is for our family member to upset the staff either. We do not want our family member yelling and screaming because they need help. We do not want our family member to even get to the point that they feel they need to be that way towards the staff. I am constantly having to calm my family member down and remind her with false hopes that it will be ok. I have to tell them that they are short handed and not just ignoring her. They call me all the time telling me they are being ignored. I am an adult with sound mind and know that there are two sides to every story. However, based on my personal experience with staff, I am not sure if my family member is telling stories. They could be telling the truth at this point. I understand the times we are in. I understand no one wants to be strapped to a job. I understand it is hard to staff facilities like this. I get it I really do. But something has to be done. When someone calls into this facility they should receive nothing less than a happy voice that really cares about the reason why you are calling. The one person that I have had a good response with is Mrs. Nicole in the social work department. Overall, my experience with her has been good. If we had more with her level of professionalism I think things would be ok. Thank you Mrs. Nicole for your work. I sent in an email to the archdiocese of Philadelphia from their website today. I will continue to find means of communication with someone there until the issues are addressed. This makes the catholic church look horrible. Please do not respond to this review with no basic statement. I do not want to hear it and others do not need to re-read the same message that is posted on most disappointing reviews. My contact number was sent in the message today. Call me.

Needs to have filtered water machine for residents instead of tap water . Filtered water can improve and sub stain health of patients!
