Horrible place. from the admin stuff - they screwed up my address, phone numbers , appointments, wrong billing amounts charged vs billed -and I had terrible mess after discharge . As a new injury paraplegic, no efforts to get me walking . I look in amazement how other places move your legs for you to trigger them . they concentrated only on independent living on 2 hands , leaving me heartbroken and with no hope. I made a lot more progress after discharge with low tech PT. nurses were ok for the most part , but there were some rude, mean people, who simply do not care. I would be left on the toilet, dropped, ran into walls, not turned at night. physiatrist I would recommend to stay away from. He would barge into my room at any time, when I was showering or sleeping or on the phone just to speak about nonsense. He provided no treatment or prescription or anything , except for the huge bill after I got discharged. Wheelchair people were the worst. They talked over me like I was not even there. So go anywhere else but this place especially if you are seriously injured - they don’t help you . Their definition of success is ‘get new attitude ‘ and get happy being handicapped.

I was a patient at Magee a couple weeks ago and I must say beautiful place but not so beautiful staff. I’ve had staff members who would not clean me properly and I’m paralyzed from the neck down. A nurse Daniel Pham I had to get to not be my nurse because during shower time he held the shower hose directly in my face knowing that I have a open airway trake. Mary Schmidt is the director there and rushed/ forced me into a decision that landed me once again back in the hospital. A nurse by the name Barbara Amotto also backed Mary Schmidt like the that I went to was the next best thing for me and they couldn’t even provide the basic needs for me. So clearly the staff really doesn’t have the patients best interest at heart or at least not mines. Honestly though what should have I expected when most of the staff come to work drunk or high which is something else I complained about for my safety. I’ve asked to have night shift tested and obviously nothing was done about it because things never changed. I’m just writing my review about my experience there and to Magee is not the place to be and I was just only there 3 weeks ago.

This review is LOONG OVERDUE. My father suffered a mild stroke November of last year. He was initially cared for at Temple Hospital and then transferred to Magee for rehabilitation. This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The facility is clean, the food is delicious (dad’s opinion) and the staff is WONDERFUL. They took such good care of my father. They kept us fully aware and updated the entire time. They even accommodated and made an exception for visitation due to myself and my sister’s work schedules. I was never worried the entire time he was there. I highly recommend this facility.
