It was nice to talk to the weavers. We missed the tour so there was not a lot to do there. It was a nice little outing.

Only one tour a day, well worth it. Owned by the school system which is awesome.

Lovely place to visit in Henderson County. Free unless touring the house. The tour is $10 for adults and $8 for kids over 5. The tour itself is quite extensive for the price. Thank you for the experience ☺️

We went for their craft market and were able to explore the house as well. Very nice people running the place who are helpful and informative about the history.

Leashed dogs are welcome!

Where are the nature trails on the property?

There is one trail that follows the gravel past the barn and garage and does a short loop through the woods. It’s gravel the whole way. There is another trail directly in front of the garage that follows the back fence line of the pasture. When you turn right at the end of the fence line, there will be a small bridge to your left that has another short loop through the woods. When you come back over the bridge, turn left and continue to follow the pasture fence. The trail will veer to the left past a giant poplar tree and will come out near the old pig barn and cottage.

Is this farm family any of the Johnson clan that immigrated from Scotland centuries ago?

Hi! The Johnsons that lived at this farm (Vernon and Leander Johnson) were descended from Noble Johnson of Limerick, Ireland. Noble came to America in 1769 and his family settled in Virginia before he moved to what is now Mecklenburg County, NC. Noble had five children-Mary, James, John Ande, Fanny, and Waitstill. John Ande Johnson was Vernon and Leander's great-grandfather. John moved to Wilkes County and later to Henderson County.
