Beautiful park with old growth forest. This is one of the hardest hikes I’ve done in Long Island. It’s a lot of inclines and declines right from the beginning of the trail. It’s not a long trail although you can continue onto other trails that will take you through a lot of other areas. If you’re looking for an easy Long Island, this isn’t it. The start to this trail will test your leg strength. This trail is more like a hike in the mountains than a hike on flat Long Island. I have never encountered a trail like this on the island before. Definitely feels more like a Catskills trail but not as long. If you’re looking for a hike that’s challenging but don’t want to drive upstate, this is a good one to try.

Yes! At the back of the CSH Public Library there are restrooms for hikers. Hike down a little side trail or walk the sidewalk to walk around to the back.

No way. Too small. Try Bethpage State Park.
I've hiked miles and miles of trails here and I've never seen anything like that.
There are two parking lots, make sure to go to the parking lot with library to find the bathroom.

Very much so. My family has been bringing our dogs for longer than i can remember and there are always other dogs on the trail.
