Great day trip for the whole Family. Reserving tickets online was a breeze. Our favorite was being able to pet the sting rays. The jelly fish aquariums look just like a screensaver it's mesmerizing. The staff was very friendly. For lunch we ate at the Dairy Queen on site. The otters swimming around really showing off was pretty cute. Neat to see the sharks up close. It was a lovely experience and I would 10/10 recommend Pine Knoll Shores NC Aquarium for a small get away with Family.

We visit 1-2 times a year. Kids are now 10 and 12, and today we still managed a full five hours here. Make sure to really take in all that they have to offer - especially the outdoor trail and the little shows they do throughout the day (which are super kid friendly and the instructors are amazing). For the first time, today we did one of the behind the scene tours. 10 out of 10 recommend. Wayne did such a great job; loved how passionate he is about all the exciting things going on at the aquarium.

We visited the aquarium this past weekend with my son and our two granddaughters. We’ve been here before with other family members over the years, and every visit has been outstanding! The facilities are well maintained, plenty of parking, and the staff are very courteous and knowledgeable about the marine life. Always educational!

During Hurricane Florence in September of 2018, The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores made certain all the animals in our care would be safe during the storm. Staff were required to leave due to a mandatory evacuation. Before staff left, they prepared animal habitats for the storm. Some animals, including birds, snakes, and land turtles, were moved to safer parts of the building. Staff members were at the Aquarium until 9:30 a.m. on September 13, 2018 in order to top off water levels and to make sure generators were left running. Staff returned to the Aquarium on September 15, 2018 when they were able to get back onto the island. Assessments of the Aquarium showed there were no leaks, no damage to the facility, and all animals had remained safe. We remained closed to the public until September 24, 2018 in order to clear outside debris and repair outdoor boardwalk areas.

The outdoor play area is great, there is also an indoor play area for little ones. If you catch the river otters while they are awake the kids usually like that. The touch tanks are good, but little kids can be iffy with them. They also have programs, just find out the schedule they have for that day when you get there.
I know they give a discount for military so there may be a discount for Emergency services personnel. Check the website or call and ask
