yes you can see the castle. I bit confusing at first since the blue trail just goes back the old road. if you follow the orange trail it does a loop but be careful since their are a few trails not marked and you go through the field. it goes up and down for a while but will swing and loop back. its not flat by any means. you want something not as challenging go across the street and do tarrywile i suggest.

Questions & Answers

Did they take the fence down or can we get a closer look?

The fence remains. However, someone did pull part of the fence away. There is a path up a little hill to that opening. I mean, I doubt that you're allowed to go in, but it sure is tempting.....

Is there a admission fee?

It's a ruin. The city let it fall apart. There's no fee to get into the park. You walk up the hill and there it is. They had a fence around it but that too has fallen down some. You can walk around it and look but going inside is not wise. I saw some ppl on the porch so feasible I guess if you watch your step. Too bad it's in this shape, the house was beautiful back in the day. Have fun!

So me and a few friends like exploring abandoned places. Is it legal to explore the castle or do we need like some sort of permission?

There is a fence sort of but it isn't complete. We didn't see any signs. BE CAREFUL. It is very dilapidated and the wood is quite rotted.

A great place for hiking, but unfortunately the place has been vandalized and it does not seem like the local government (who owns the castle) has plans to make it a touristic place. It has a great history and it is a shame that it is being forgotten

Not this site per say but it sits on the grounds of Tarrywile Park which is owned by the city of Danbury and is open to the public free of charge. They sometimes sponsor events.
