Very poor experience and not the first time. Took my daughter here on her bday. We paid for the hour and all she got was 15 minutes of horseriding and another 25 minutes of brushing the horse in the stables. Instructor girl with the red hair brings her back 15 minutes before the lesson was up and said my daughter told her she was too tired to ride but my daughter said she never told her that. She wanted to ride more, but time was almost up and so was the 110 bucks. Instructor wanted to be lazy and my kid went home sad on her bday. Couldn't even let me book another lesson since their schedule was packed. We had a bad experience a few years ago here as well with the owner. Shady place for sure. Lost a customer for good. Stay away unless you like getting scammed. Going to let BBB know about this as well.

Teddy the orange big horse is blind in the left eye. i didn’t know until i got closer it was red and gushy it’s sad people shouldn’t be riding him it is dangerous for him and the riders. He rode with us in a group. I asked the lady what happened to his eye she said it was fatty tissue, and he can’t see much. His eye looks horrible at least cover it up with an eye patch. How can he see were he’s going and imagine how painful it is with bugs in it. Disabled horses shouldn’t be rode.

Best place to instill a love of horses! Trainers are great, horses are taken care of and children are encouraged to push their limit.

Wouldn't recommend a private lesson here. Ring is loud & chaotic and the staff attitude is the WORST. Super snotty and useless with actual instruction. The only thing you'll learn during your "lesson" is that you wasted $110.

7000 Shore Pkwy in Brooklyn off of the Belt Parkway
We did a guided walk on the trail. I assume you’re asking about riding alone at higher than tour speeds. I would suggest calling the number on their website, they answer immediately and can answer your question in seconds. Often time the owner answers
As soon as possible first come first serve and the price is a pretty steep

Jamaica Bay Riding Academy does not have a volunteer program but there is seaside therapy that has a volunteer program, I would recommend contacting JBRA and asking for info on seaside.
It's always good to ask them if you are allowed, (We had no problem taking pictures)
$ 75 8 YEARS OR OLDER (MINIMUM 2 PEOPLE, MORE THAN 4 PEOPLE CAN BE DIVIDED IN 2 GROUPS)
I leased a horse from here in 2000. I believe it was about $550 for 2 weeks then. No instructors or lessons included. We got to pretty much have a school horse for our own use for the time paid - each horse has their own tack, we had access to the trails, indoor & outdoor arenas, turnout paddocks, wash stalls, a locker in the tack area, and were allowed there during member hours. We spoiled and pampered the horses while we leased them! Note that this was 19 years ago so their policies could have easily changed! It appears they require an internal certification now to lease (I don’t remember this, we were just the kids who were familiar with the facilities from being in weekly lessons).
