I was recently discharged from here. Most of the staff were really great and went out of their way to help. People have to remember that this is a short term mental health facility designed to keep you safe and get you the referrals and appointments you need, as well as, medications until you see an outside psychiatrist. I know some people don't like that they can't go home when they want, but it's for your own safety. I was voluntary and still had to stay a week. I was ok and I'm alive and got the meds and outside therapy that I needed. The facility is very clean.

Place felt like jail. Wasn't given medication on time, did not help with suicidal thoughts or anything. Very neglectful place.

Stay away! My experience felt like torture. I have never had a hospital experience so terrifying and damaging to my mental health.I am still having nightmares almost nightly a year later. This facility ruined my quality of life. When I came in I was denied my regular seizure/pain medicines for almost 3 days. Staff members would curse and demean me during seizures, slam doors, kick and throw things, grab me, and leave me in bed, restrained, with soiled clothes/bedding. Staff refused to contact my psychiatrist, therapist, or neurologist to confirm my diagnoses and made regular threats to do unspeakable things if I attempted to contact them. I was not allowed any of my accessibility equipment so I fell frequently and could hardly eat, breathe or bathe myself. Staff took my glasses away as punishment which I never got back. My psychiatrist was the one who finally helped transfer me to the toilet and find clean clothes and bedding for me after I had begged the staff on the unit for days. I left with several infections from being left in my own urine and feces which required weeks of antibiotics. Serious concerns: - Staff will get physically violent and use illegal methods such as "isolation rooms", 5-point restraints, harsh over medication (5 injections of Haldol at once, entire vial of Zyxprexa, etc) - Staff are usually aggressive, unavailable and will not inform your doctor or loved ones of your care - Staff will make racist/ableist/homophobic comments and body shame - Dietary needs (even allergies) are ignored - Groups are only held once every few days - No family/individual counseling - Psychiatry/Social Work appointments are less than 5 minutes and only once every few days All in all, for every 1 helpful staff member there are 100 cruel ones. I would avoid this hospital at all costs especially if you or your loved one are disabled/LGBT/minority etc. I deeply hope the few helpful staff members can get far away from here! The rest are sadistic monsters!
