So sorry to hear about your discomfort in braces nicoma. Many patients experience some discomfort with the brackets for just 5-7 days then the cheeks get used to them. The brackets are very smooth, but any constant rubbing can irritate a spot. It is on that bracket you must place a small amount of the wax you were given by the office, and usually within 24 hours the discomfort is gone. Every patient has different pain tolerance levels for their mouth. Three of my children had no problems with braces and one did. But even he is so grateful for the beautiful smile that is the reward for all the hard work. Hang in there as it will be very worth it in the end.

Hi Grace, This doesn't sound right as almost every patient gets an upper and lower retainer. Please call the office and ask for Nicole or Andrea who will help you get a retainer as we do want to help all our patients keep their teeth straight!
