Ms. Tina the director of the house does a very poor job in her position of her job. She stays in her office all day on her computer attending to other “personal” business such as being on her phone and laptop instead of attending to her job and also requests to always have her door closed. In my 2 months there the play room for kids has never been open to the kids of the house. Also, they do not care for the health of the residents, My child & I were hospitalized and kicked out with my bags in the basement without my prior knowledge. It was only until I received a text from one of the residents asking where did all of my property go. Even than, I had to get the cops involved because staff did not want to give me my property since it was “too heavy” to get from the basement. This is not the idle place to be. It is even a hassle to get a drink of water without being harassed. Staff are more concerned with the maintenance of the house rather than the physical & mental health of the residents. Please don’t not stay here! The heat is cut off during the night & you & your child are left in the freezing cold to deal with it by yourself. Anywhere is safe & mentally healthy to stay at for shelter BUT The Providence House4. The Providence House needs to be run by someone who is naturally caring, involved without being rewarded, and takes action to create a better atmosphere for children & mothers to live.

Questions & Answers

Do they accept baby clothes and stuff??

Yes they do but call before arriving. They get a lot of donations and maybe they have enough of what you are donating. They might be able to recommend another location if they can't take it.

How are the homeless women there? On the average, do they get along with each other? Also, how is the house set up? How many women share a room?
