I unfortunately had to take the test on a day w thunderstorm. At one point the rain got so heavy the wipers couldn’t help. I couldn’t see anything thru the window and I could barely hear her instructions coz of the rain. The examiner didn’t care - if we could wait for just 3 mins for the pouring to calm a little bit, it would’ve been a much more reasonable test.

Although the instructor was clearly & overtly rude, she also in addition gave me 3 infractions in which two of them were unnecessary. I did pass the test though and I am very happy about that 😊

No. You need to complete the 5 hour pre-licensing course and then set an appointment with the DMV for the road test.
Someone with a license must accompany you. Since you don't yet have a license you need a licensed driver. A professional driving school rents out cars if necessary and they will take you to the test.
If an examiner has a tablet you'll get the results at the end of the day but if they have a clipboard, you'll get the results the next day. Hope this helps.
Temporary license plate should not be an issue as it is legal to drive with it as long as it is not expired.
Yes, you can get a non driver's license I.D card, it's called a New York state I.D card, not a liscens.
