I personally didn't have a great experience but that's because I was looking for my dog since the day before and they did have him there but he was hit by a a car and didn't make it .... but the young lady at the front desk was so sweet .

Unfortunately the Animal Shelter is not hiring at this time. If it happens to start doing so the County will put the listing on the Henrico Jobs web page. The Shelter is not accepting volunteers at this time due to COVID-19 but you can try the SPCA or RACC or any other animal rescue who might have different guidelines at this time.

It varies by what is handed over or found running lose. Give them a call or set up a profile on adopt a pet.
If you know the location of the animal you can call 501-5000 to have an officer do a check.
Nope. Citizens can adopt an animal from the shelter no matter where they live!

For non-court mandated volunteer work you have to be 18 years or older. Call the shelter between the times of 10am to 4pm and ask for the Volunteer Coordinator's number, they're open Monday through Saturday at those times. Also be aware since this is a part of the Henrico Police a background check will be done if you are applying to volunteer.
