writing this review because i don’t normally write reviews unless for example, a doctor neglects patient’s wishes/pain/concerns. i came in a while ago for certain concerns, and i had to beg the doctor to run bloodwork. although of course i don’t expect the doctor to diagnose me with anything as i would need to see a specialist, i am upset by the fact that a doctor would undermine a patient’s worries by simply writing it off as “anxiety disorder.” at least, i would hope the doctor’s finally say would be something more like my complaint of course without a diagnosis of illness/disease. it was quite disappointing that the doctor (Victor McGlaughlin) would do that. he was kind but seemed quite annoyed that i asked for tests and i tried to dismiss the concerns that my issue was “anxiety disorder.” and i say this acknowledging that my tests came back within normal. i recently saw specialists and was diagnosed with POTS and anemia and possible crohn’s disease to which the doctor is very sure but i’m waiting on a test result to confirm. it was concerning that my issues i brought up to the doctor are very well crohn’s disease symptoms and he dismissed this by saying it’s anxiety. as well my legs were so banged up and bruised, and he said it’s normal. yet i saw another doctor who ran more extensive tests and i have anemia. i don’t expect the doctor to be able to run extensive tests, but i do expect to be listened to instead of belittled by being told it’s my anxiety. that is why it very much concerns me a doctor would dismiss everything as an anxiety concern. this is just my call in to any doctor at this practice, to please listen to patients, especially women. it is also to warn anyone reading this, as a patient or a potential patient, to be cautious if you are seen by this doctor and ask questions/for a referral/for a test if you need it. as well, to doctors: please don’t write patients off as “frequent flyers” or give them a hysteria diagnosis. sometimes people have chronic health issues that rightfully worry them, and since you cannot make a pcp appointment for an urgent concern unless you want to wait a month or two to be seen, it is necessary to believe patients. i may be young and struggle with anxiety, and perhaps to this doctor i seemed like a young clueless girl, but i am confident enough to know how to advocate for myself and i am knowledgeable enough to to understand my own health. anxiety and physical illness are not mutually exclusive, and it is shocking to think that physicians may not realize that anxiety long term can cause illness, such as autoimmune disorders and gastrointestinal disorders. but that doesn’t mean that there is no underlying physical illness if one struggles with anxiety. instead, showing anxiety can be a marker to let a doctor know they should look further into physical health concerns. this facility is quite good otherwise and i appreciate it.
