Museum needs major upgrade with some of wax figures. Some were so distorted you had to read the sign to recognize who they were. No handicap accessibility, no parking, no proper doors, no elevators and no air conditioning. No sign outside to say it was the location. Not a good experience at all. Very disappointed.

Take a tour through our history ... ask to see the founders of FUBU it's a must see

My first time here. For Black Americans, this is heart breaking experience as the museum also displays historical accounts, artifacts, and pictures of lynching (men, women, children) and slavery. The hateful, evil, despicable behavior of whites will forever go unmatched. Study every picture and read every line.

The National Great Blacks in Wax (NGBIW) was not only fascinating, but it was also emotionally charged. The wax figures (especially the slave ship figures) brought their agony and suffering to a whole emotional level. My only concerns about some of the displays are the some wax figures had a few issues. Mostly misfitting clothing, and broken fingers/limbs. Otherwise, NGBIW is a must visit when you're in Baltimore. Also beware that the building is in the middle of remodeling. There's scaffolding at the front of the building so it looks as if the museum is closed. It's best to call before traveling there.

Interesting, did you ever get a response?
Yes they do offer virtual tours. I was there this past Saturday and I overheard them doing their first one. As far as the cost I would call and see what it would cost.
Good Morning, there are seafood buffets in the harbor as well as many places to eat. However we recommend restaurants we have a relationship with and many of them are not in the harbor area.Terra Cafe 101 East 25th Street approximately 10 minutes from the museum. Breaking Bread 771 Washington Blvd five minutes from the Harbor. Teavolve 1401 Aliceanna Street located in Harbor East. Finally if you would like Vegan cuisine try Land of Kush 840 North Eutaw Street. All of these restaurants are owned by African Americans and provide great food and great service. I hope this helps and we look forward to your visit! Jon

The Museum is 15 mintues away from the Inner Harbor where most Hotels reside. There are two hotels that are relatively close. The Sleep INN 301 N Fallsway Ave 21202 and the Holiday Inn Express Baltimore MD 21202.
Yes but there are different levels that a wheel chair would not have access to
The Museum covers the black experience from Ancient Africa, Middle Passage and slavery, civil rights through modern times. From Queen Anne Nzinga and a 19th century slave ship replica or Rosa Parks and a permanent exhibit on Lynching to President Barack Obama, and so much In between can be found in this Museum — the nation’s first wax museum of African American history.

The best place to educate our children about the history of our ancestors. The hands on experience with the live narrators are very well versed and knowledgeable about the replicas of the black leaders who made history so profoundly and remarkably incredible will make you proud to be who you are. So yes whenever you get the chance to visit its highly recommend.
Free parking, bring some tissue. It's a very moving experience!
There are buses between the two cities; but, you'll have to transfer to a local Baltimore transit line once in the city.
Yes call them they would love to have you.
