Ive been coming down to this park and area for float trips and nature hikes since i was a boy. What a fun and beautiful place! We took a 4 day trip and stayed at Sand Spring Resort, right around the corner from Bennett Spring. My son loved feeding the trout and seeing the fly fishing was a spectacle in itself. I can't wait to get my trout fishing permit and hit the river sometime soon. This state park seems to go above and beyond expectations. We will be back, for sure.

Of the 3 state parks for trout fishing in Missouri, Bennett has been a favorite of most people I know for a long time, even though it is the furthest from St. Louis. The friendly, long-serving staff, comparitively clean facilities, and awesome park make this an awesome place. The people around are almost always friendly and courteous folks who enjoy sharing the experience of fishing. While there are other things to do besides fish, such as tour the hatchery or wildlife museum, enjoy playgrounds, or dine in the restaurant, this is still a place built around fishing and camping so you need to have a desire to do that to really enjoy the experience. I already have decades of great memories in this rustic state park with a 100 year history, and hope for a few decades more with my kids and so on.

An absolutely beautiful and well-maintained park. Always has been one of my favorite places to visit, growing up in this area. The little reptile house is awesome, the restaurant is tasty, and most of all the area where you can feed the rainbow trout is SO COOL!

Anything and everything you could want in an outdoor adventure. Bennett Springs State Park has some awesome amenities. Rather you're just out for the day to hike, fish, have lunch, meet up with friends, or spend time with the family, you won't be disappointed.

They were camping there Memorial Day weekend when I was there, but definitely call and make sure that they have a spot open.
You can buy one at the park store, they are $3 per day for adults and $2 per day for children. You don't have to prove that you have a fishing license, but you do have to have a daily tag purchased from the store in order to fish in the park. No entrance fee, but there is of course a camping fee.
It should be listed on web site..
Zone 3 From the whistle bridge to the Niangua River. Only soft plastic bait (unscented), natural and scented bait are permitted. All flies and artificial lures are prohibited, even if natural bait or scent has been added. Hope this nailed it
It should be open and we have kept our fish every time we have been there. It only costs $2 to get a tag for Bennett Springs. Make sure you look online at the different zones and what you can fish with in the areas. They sell everything you need there or at Weaver's bait and tackle but you are better off to bring most of it with you.
You can call the park store and find out
NO! Not in any state parks or Fed parks.
The Bennett owned sites are right on the river
You can bring them we do not rent them anymore. But you can only use them in the River not in the Spring.
There is a swimming pool You can swim at the public access but the water temp is very cold like 55° if I remember correctly. Plus that is where several of the outfitters launch there rafts and canoes
Last time I stayed in a cabin there were sheets and blankets, however I thought they were very outdated and needed a good renovation.
Good distance between sites, not private, bathrooms & showers are only a couple of years old. Clean & nice. Aphids are plentiful but harmless.
Not sure but its great!!
I am not sure. You might call the park store.
It opened March 1st, as it does each year. Even before that, we can fish as catch-and-release. Enjoy!
The pool at the campgrounds/by weavers tackle shop should have already opended 8-9 am
No weight limits trout season ends October 31 but you can do catch and release now
8am-4pm Fri Sat Sun Mon From the 2nd Fri in Nov Thru 2nd Mon in Feb
No; unless it has a state license plate, Inspection sticker and Proof of insurance.
No, camp anywhere you want and find an outfitter.
They do near the store at the park office. Camping, RV's,tents. Fishing for a day license and lots of gear for purchase at the store. Ice Cream too while your catch is being cleaned! Happy Trails!
The park has quite a list of rules. I would call and check to be certain.
Some of the camp sites are within walking distance and some are much further away. It just depends on the type of camping you are doing. It also depends on what area your are fishing from.
There used to be a vending machine at the rearing pools.
Normally yes just a lot slower with the trout season closed
You can swim in the spring just past the park. There are also kayak, canoe, and raft rentals available by several companies. The river goes for miles and miles and they will pick you up at several locations. You can make it a short float trip or an all day float trip.
