Well kept and clean. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. There is a video explaining the history of the battle that is about 30 minutes long. It's definitely worth watching! The kids got a little ansy sitting for that long, but the video was very well done - fast pacing, interesting personal stories of some of the people from the battle, and camera work that brought the battle to life. We enjoyed the the artifacts and photos of some of the soldiers in the visitors center as well, and the bookstore is actually a nice little souvenir shop with a great selection and lots of books for the history buff. The area is well kept, however, there was a sign warning of ticks, bees, snakes and the like as you walked around the battlefield area. We didn't see any snakes, but I did find a tick on my clothes after we left, so definitely use bug spray! There is also a driving path you can follow using the map they give you at the visitors center.

This is an amazing place! So much history and it is beautifully displayed and preserved. The only negative was the man working in the gift shop. He was not very personable.

Wow, the Jr. Ranger program can take a while it is very detailed. The 45 minute movie was well worth the time to understand all that went on here. You could depend a full day in this park. I wish we had more time. The visitors center looks small but has a lot of info.

The movie was well done and informative. The exhibit inside the visitor center was not as large as the one in Corinth, but the battlefield itself has been preserved and is very well marked.

I saw a couple dogs while there. Just didnt see them go in the building. If you did take the dog, just make sure to have baggies and such to clean up after him. By the way, it's an amazing walk to see everything and read all the info. Its surreal. Hope you enjoy it there.
Yes. They still have regular Sunday services! Thanks for asking!
Yes, the visitor center is accessible for handicapped, and you tour the battlefield in your own car
No, there is no camping.
I don't know that any confederate troops were in the area to remove them. This was during the early years of the war
