Talkeetna Riverfront Park is great to watch the Aurora Borealis (Northern lights). It has a slightly elevated grassy area overlooking the river. Looking slightly North West, across the river, you can see Mount Denali (formerly Mount McKinley), the tallest mountain in North America at 20,310 feet. About an hour after sunset, the Aurora might be visible on clear nights. We tried viewing it last night (September 18th 2022) from 1am to 3am without luck. We later learned it came on about 9pm-11pm.

Stumbled on this place while walking around in Talkeetna. Walked down Belle's Interpretive Trail, along the Talkeetna River, around the cabins, and around the park. It was a cloudy day, so was unable to see Denali from the lookout point. The Interpretive Trail was very informative and educational as there were many signs along the tour. I had no idea about Belle MacDonald and her impact on Talkeetna. The trail along the river gave a great up close view of the river. There were quite a few fishermen who were catching some good sized fish from the river. Overall, the park was nice, clean, and had something for everyone.

Not that I saw when I was there a week ago
There are multiple places to park in the area. You might have to walk a bit, and some areas are posted no overnight parking.
